Just a general rant about retards on the roads.

I'm turning right at a circle and the guy in front of me is going right/straight I'm not sure. Next thing I know, he's swerving violently in front of me to go left without indicating at all and then slows down to about 30km/ph. Of course, I hooted and flashed my lights and he looks at me through his rearview and I motion with my hand that he must &^*%ing indicate and the stupid SOB flips me off and drives away.

Later on, driving to work behind a woman (who looked like she could barely see over the steering wheel!) in an old BMW. She was doing around 70, I was on about 65, next thing the &^*%ing cow hits the brakes and goi's a sharp left - again I had to smash my foot on the breaks to stop from hitting her. So, I hoot and again indicate for her to use her indicators. She just brushes me off with a flick of her hand.

What is it, do they not teach people how to indicate when learning to drive? I mean, O-M-G! I even indicate when I reverse just to let people know which direction I am reversing.

Is it lack of common sense? Laziness? Or just pure &^%*ing stupidity!?

I feel like tearing these people's hair out with my bare hands!

One day I will make someone pull over and I will smash his/her indicators (I'll be careful not to break the other lights) and when they start giving me ***, I will reply: "Well you're not using them, so why do you need them?" and I will smile with inner glee as a look of profound puzzlement crosses their stupid faces... *dreamy smile*

I'm of the opinion that drivers in this country are amongst the worst in the world.

Nothing worse than people not using indicators at traffic circles.

@lcbxx: I'm inclined to agree with you.

@Slootvreter: It seems many drivers automatically assume that you know where they are going. I would love a loudspeaker attached to my car. "Oi, you bloody prat in the White BMW, Yes you! Learn to drive and use your indicators you ponce!"

It's SO annoying, no wonder there is such a high level of road rage.

Typical South African mentality: "Oh crap, a YELLOW light! I must speed up to get through, that's what YELLOW light means 'Hurry the hell up it's about to go RED!'"
Instead of treating a YELLOW light like a yield sign that means: "Slow the **** down boet!"

@Sabbz

Sounds like you are travelling too close to the vehicle in front of you. You will find that if you adopt a defensive driving state of mind and expect people to do stupid things, then you will encounter fewer surprises.

Quite true, but that still doesn't excuse people from using their indicators properly. Why is it the norm for people to change lanes or turn without indicating?? I consider it to be very dangerous to do that

@bekdik: Considering that he was in the inside lane and I was in the outside lane, I didn't feel a following distance was necessary. I just reread my initial post and I found that I had forgotten that little piece, my apologies. :)

When I first started driving my mother gave me the same advice: "When driving, treat everyone else on the road like a blithering idiot and you will do fine." But the level of idiocy that seems the permeate many drivers is truly astounding. :p

@flarkit: I have a suspicion that it's down to a number things (it could be one, or all of the following):
1) Laziness; many deduce that it's easier to just swerve into another lane without looking/indicating (both considered by many to be unnatural actions of the human body) than it is to just Mirror - Signal - Maneuver.

2) Free for all; If you watch drivers carefully, you will see it's like a pack of dogs fighting for the top spot. (almost) Everyone pushes and shoves to get where they want to be, regardless of others. They assume everyone knows what they are doing and that it's ok to drive like a prat.

3) Common Sense; There is a very large lack of it in this country.

There are obviously more, but I can't think of any at this point in time. :)

BMW drivers never indicate........My one friend drives a BMW and according to him BMW drivers own the road....WTF........I don't like BMW drivers......and they never indicate

Sabbz, it sounds like you were also in the wrong. The outside lane is for turning left or going straight ahead, whilst the inside lane is for going straight ahead and turning right. It seems as though you were both in the wrong lane.

Maybe your friend thinks he owns the road because he owns a BMW (which by the way is not at all a sign of success and prosperity)...that's where you should try and find fault, not BMW drivers in general.

I made a typo in my first post, sorry.

To correct it:
I was going left and in the outside lane.
He was (originally) going right/straight (I'm not sure which) and in the inside lane. At the last possible moment he swerved to the left and in front of me without indicating.

Sorry about the typo's, I was quite angry when I wrote the post and made a lot of confusing/silly mistakes.

He works for BMW......I actually have a few friends that have Beamers..and they all think the same...thats why I didnt buy one...lol

Not a problem. The opposite usually happens to me - I'm in the inside lane going straight ahead, with the idiot in the outside lane turning right. Happened again this morning.

Got the Honda Accord instead....lovely car..and it has more gadgets standard than any BMW.....will be upgrading next year and will def be getting another Accord..the new one is very nice......

I have this thing for the way Audi's are designed, they also look so .. sporty .. all the time, I love it. When I can afford one, I'll get one ^_^

I like the new C Class that just came out, very funky

It's frustrating as hell because there really isn't anything you can do about it besides hoot and then gesticulate wildly. I'm angry at the driver whose driving like a prat, but I'm even more angry because there isn't anything I can do about it, short of ramming my car into theirs and beating them to a pulp with a K53 drivers manual :p

Yea, those are really nice cars and they look good too :)

I just got my new car, a VW Polo 2006 model - I fell in love with the round taillights :)
