Rapidshare updates to Rapids

hello everyone, i read through all eleven pages of this thread...so i felt obliged to register/reply and insert my two cents!

(the random question given to me during registration was weird, "Which cellular company in South Africa has the slogan ‘Yebo Gogo’ and has a blue logo?" ..thank you google for the answer lol)



well, i have been using rapidshare since around '06 iirc, had a prem acc for a while... i stopped using it for a while, and today i've been compiling a list of dnb releases that i have been meaning to get my hands on.. sure enough, most of the links are on RS (something i had come to terms with over the last four or five years).. so i went to the rs site to check out the pricing, thinking about grabbing a premium account for a few months once again..

then i am confronted with this rapids-points-payment crap.. oh man, disappointing. needless to say, all 11 pages of this thread have confirmed my suspicions about the general consensus of RS's state on the net.. with hotfile's uploader benefits i am sure they will take off and become somewhat like RS once was. i am most likely going to do some forum hunting, filestube works great and so does google when you are on the hunt for an elusive file.. (google for site:hotfile.com file name here, or site:blogspot.com file name here..etc) from the couple minutes i have already spent browsing through "hotfile forum" hits with google, it looks like they will be my next provider.


as far as download software goes, when i did massive transfers with both free and premium accounts from multiple hosts, i used this little program; http://wordrider.net/freerapid/. it worked seamlessly both with and without a free account, you can highlight the entire source of a web page and it will extract the links for you which is helpful for forums that like to hotlink things and chop the URL.. the name is freerapid, but it works for many different hosts! i am going to look into the ones you guys have discussed, i haven't heard of them other then jdownloader... then again i was always more of a P2P man myself.
 
On a different note I haver moved to Hotfile... loads of sites support it and since the F up at rapidshare more are coming on board. Secondly no DL limits or any other hogwash only a normal time based sub.
 
any of you guys know if you can remote upload a Hotfile file to Rapidshare or even Megaupload?
 
Rapidshare's new look has confused the living cr*p out of me.

they are going more and more in the wrong direction.

can see the number of RS places I use, dropping like flies now.

its not....

you used to be able to only download 5 gigs per day, which is pretty useless IMO - now you can use your whole months allowance in a weekend, if you so choose. much better, because you have more control.

I'm loving hotfile though - unlimited. can't argue with that, but it IS slower than RS unfortunately......




As for the links droping like flies - well here is some interesting stats for you.
I usually take a hotfile link over Rapidshare (If both are available), as I have unlimited of Hotfile VS Limited Rapids on Rapidshare

miPony claims I use Hotfile 55%, and RS 44%, the rest 1%

that means 55% of the time there is a Hotfile link, and 44% a Rapidshare link - BUT, in that 55% of hotfile links, there might be some Rapidshare links too (I choose HF over RS, remember)

Hotfile slower? I don't notice that, you have a 4 meg line?

Also using hotfile instead of the RS account where possible.

Using 3G, so.....5mbps?

So what's your miPony stats? lets see 'em...... (since you also take HF over RS, lets get extra data)
(and if you don't have the new version of MiPony ima slap you)

haha 100% hotfile ATM. Only recently upgraded to the mipony version with stats, will get better stats later on... Downloading with a 1meg line.

well there goes my theory....hehe


....or you just care about your "precious" rapids too much, and hunt down the HF mirrors more often :D
 
yeah, I had a bunch of HF links queued before upgrading to the new version. and katz.cd is pretty handy... ;)

yeah used to use mediafire, but I have troubles finding links... mind sharing some sites?
 
yeah the daily limit thing being null and void is good

think the main reason RS is getting less is because of no uploading bonus, although I am not sure if Hotfile has either.

yeah I have also lately preferred going HF than RS but I just happen to today wanted to get something and had to go to RS site and noticed the whole change.

but now I can't seem to "DOWNLOAD WITH IDM" via links anymore since the change :(

unless I am doing something wrong which I don't think since I haven't changed anything either.
 
so you guys with Mipony aren't having any issues with the new change right?

wondering to switch to that for RS downloads seeing as atm IDM not working and hate copying and pasting links or at least any long route :P
