Raspberry Pi Taxes?

The collection slip must indicate where you can go and collect the parcel... pop this into google and find their contact details. Or give me the name and I'll search it for you - the branch locator is working just fine for a change. Ask to speak to the manager and get him to explain to you how you would go about getting the package re-evaluated by customs.

Did you just order the Pi, or some additions?

Easier just to go there instead of trying to explain/complain via telephone.

I ordered the RaspberryPi and transformer and SDCARD+PiOs.

Thats really alot for duties. Normally if its cables etc or plastic enclosures, you will be charged duties but maybe only 10% of the cost of item. We, Electrocomp Expressa distributor for Farnell Element14 sell the Raspberry Pi and accesories and receive daily shipments via UPS from UK. The duties are not that high. The Raspberry goes for R450.00 ex-vat. This includes all additionals costs to SA.
What parts were they, I could advise you the tariff codes and then maybe you can check with SAPO.

Also, if I may add, clearing for parcels at SAPO is about R25.00. The VAT portion is normally bigger, also cost of freight was paid at suppliers point. Only additional will be for duties, so check, somewhere along the line something went wrong.

I got mine from Electrocomp, it was quick and easy with no drama.

Perhaps you can post the links to these items in the reseller's sub-forum (with stock codes). A few months ago I had marked the links to some items and then the eexpress site changed and I can't find some items these anymore using the search. And it is not like other items when they are discontinued, my keywords don't return the items at all.

Hi Vis1,
Im trying to keep the info minimal as I was banned twice on my first 2 times I initially joined. I heard from a lot of customers that they were awaiting long leadtimes on the Pi's etc and thought there was only one supplier in SA, not us, so thought I would make everyone aware that we could make the Pi easily available to them as well.
View list - eexpress.co.za for rand pricing
on Farnells website : http://export.farnell.com, put the following in search field "RPI" and all parts and accesories will be listed. can send us an mail and request list of products : Electrocomp express for pricing/ETA.
Farnell have a free online community for design engineers, hobbyists, students etc and they list all new product: www.element14.com more than 150,000 users and industry experts to assist you online. Check it out.You can see what others are discussing about teh Raspberry Pi as well. Regards Fathima : Electrocomp express

+1 - I get why you were banned. This isn't a free for all advertising platform.

MyBB has a dedicated dealers forum where registered dealers can post, rpm's FAQ here.

Did you come right j4ck455?
I called the customs office on 011 961 6000.
The lady said to go the Post Office where the parcel is, tell them to return it to customs marked:
ATTENTION: Graeme - Re-evaluation

Mt pi was back at my Post Office within a week

I realize this is a little late but for future reference there is a shop in Jhb that keeps stock on hand. Picked mine up within two days of deciding to buy one. My Valentines gift from me to me...

They are close to me so not sure what my options were for deliveries etc but my experience has been positive with these guys. They are a bit more expensive but looking at the amount of trouble people are having at customs and unknown extra fees I certainly don't mind paying the premium.

Check it out http://www.pifactory.co.za/product

To add to this, after 6 month delays and customs issues on 2 orders I also ended up looking locally and pifactory has not let me down, the guys there are great.

Unfortunately I have not made it to the post office as yet, I did however call the post office and found that to be an exercise in futility.

I also called 0119616000 several times last week (mostly I was on hold for ages until the line went dead ). Eventually I got hold of someone there (SAPO EMS) that advised me to tell the post office to send the parcel back for re-evaluation. Thanks for the name (Graeme) I will use that together with the tariff codes that SheikF gave me.
