im currently trying to install raspppoe. i have the install from disk window open, and a windows xp disk in the e drive but i dont know what file to choose to install the driver
could anyone help me out?

In the Install From Disk window, either type the name of your temporary installation directory or click the Browse... button to navigate to it (it does not matter which of the INF files you select, Windows will automatically pick the right one later). Then click the OK button. A new window opens, offering the PPP over Ethernet Protocol for installation. Click OK to start installing the protocol.

I take it you've downloaded the RASPPPOE zip file from the website?
Extract it to a temp folder somewhere, and choose one of those files to install the driver...

ok, got it installed buuut...
1)i can only see my mweb account connection under my network places. i also have an axxess one but im not sure where thats gone? (got a gig of local prepaid)
2)it wont dial to my mweb account?

Did you create new dialup accounts for both MWeb and Axxess?
Start -> Run -> raspppoe
Rename the first one before creating the second one.

So what happens when you click on "Create a Dial-Up Connection for the selected Adapter" in RASPPPOE?

What do you have listed under Network Connections?

i have the following:
1394 connection (dunno what it is, its always been there)
local area connection 3 (my internet connection)
local area connection (dunno what this is, might be my LAN connection, it always says network cable unplugged)

Okay, when you run RASPPPOE select the adapter that matches the device name for local area connection 3, then click "Create a Dial-Up Connection for the selected Adapter"

yep, thats what i did and when i try to connect it just keeps dialing and gives me this error:
the modem or other connecting device is not configured properly

hey, i have the same problem as tydvirtaal. I've got a Billion 800VGT router. How do i set it to Bridged mode? I have read a ton of stuff from the MBB forums and theres hardly anything for newbies. lol, yes, i am one

Far RASPPPOE XP install try this link http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6912

Hey, i tryed your link, it is helpful till a point. But what about setting up the wan endpoints or something? And dont i need to place TWO dial up connections from RASPPPoE on the desktop?

Another problem i have is that when i check my Telkom internet usage tracker, it shows only the blended being used. Not the local usage. This is after trying to do everything from the instructions. I have a Billion 800VGT router. How do i set it to Bridged mode?

You have to log into the router, the default IP address for the Billion 800VGT is 10.0.0.2. Once you are in the interface of the router click on Quick Start, on your right hand side you will see "encapsulation" drop down menu. From the menu you can select "pure bidge mode LLC" then apply. Pleae click on "save config" once you are finished with your configuration.

you will always be using your blended untill you hit your cap - it cant be split. Only at that point can you use your 30gig local or whatever it is.
