I cannot believe what I experienced today. I applied for a RCS card this weekend, and today i get a "PLEASE CALL ME" type message (please call RCS on 0861729727 to finalize your RCS application) to phone back RCS. Where in your life have you seen a joke like this?????

Do you know who sends SMS's like that? Criminals who send SMS's to say you have won money in a Nokia promotion. Not professional companies.

And worse, I phone back 3 times - everytime they are "experiencing unusually high call volumes".

Tell me RCS, why dont you employ more staff to handle the call centre? This is an ongoing problem - it is not unusually high - you are as per usual understaffed.

Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.

Application withdrawn - go stuff yourself RCS.

What's unbelievable is that you are applying for an RCS card in the first place! You surely can't be that desperate for money.

oh **** off would you, go troll your sister

Anyway, apart from the troll, keep away from these guys, what idiots

But seriously though. What is the benefit of having such a card?

As far as I can tell/understand this card caters to lower income earners that are almost guaranteed to get into debt. Its like any store card (Mr Price etc) but can be used at multiple stores so it's easier to rack up the debt conveniently on one card with exorbitant admin fees.

I have a Virgin Money credit card that can be used anywhere and it costs me nothing to have (also because I use it for convenience rather than debt). It also allows me to have a credit history (if that is why you are trying to get the RCS card).

RCS cards are for low-income earners with bad credit histories who live from hand to mouth. Just wondering why someone with internet access and who uses MyBroadband would use an RCS card. It's a perfectly valid question.

I agree, I don't see it as trolling......RCS are guys you do NOT want to have your personal info. Once they have your number they will pester you with spam, pass your number on to other spammers and make your life hell. Some retard gave my number when applying for credit at one of the clothing stores.....sheeeesh, they freaking drove me nuts....and even now every so often I get a call from them trying to collect outstanding debt....I've resorted to swearing as they refuse to accept they have the wrong number or are just too stupid to change it.....freakin RCS..just as F'd up as those lawyers from SABC.....
....rant over

I actually got one from FNB the other day,

good day mr X please contact us back with reference number Y as we are unable to get a hold of you

so yes I do believe its possible to get these SMS's
as for an RCS card, do people actually even still apply for these?
or is it just a way for them to get your details so they can send you spam?

post of the day!

Hope you kept all the correpsondence because they probably didn't cancel your account and you are racking up admin charges. Don't worry you will only know about it in 2 years when the debt collectors call. Mwhahahahaha!

RCS card = makro card = dion wired card.

Dont know when last you were at Dion Wired, low income earners generally dont go in there.
So your assumption is totally wrong and you post even though you are uninformed.
Where the hell do you get the idea that someone with an RCS card has bad credit history. Do you even know what the requirements are for applying for a RCS card?
Do you think they'd sell a R20k TV to a guy with bad credit history?

If you dont know what you're talking about, why post?

Anyway, sticking to the subject. RCS has bad service. Yet they're one of the biggest providers in South Africa.
They should up their game.

It's not an assumption, it's fact. RCS cards are for people who cannot get credit cards either due to low-income or a tarnished credit history (which I guess is their one similarity to store cards). Personally I would be embarrassed to be seen with an RCS card. There is definitely a stigma attached to it.

RCS is bull! I had my card cloned and maxed out. They sorted the issue but were very unprofessional about it! Cut it up!

Don't know of this stigma, saw a guy buy quite a large 3D TV with this Card at Dion Wired
He looked pretty chuffed - definitely not embarrassed. But then again I'm not a psychologist.

Anyway, I cancelled the application so its all good. Wont deal with them again, due to bad service
