Please people, don't even think of asking for an invite unless you can show that you are a dedicated member of some internet community, this one or elsewhere. In other words... you are not likely to considered for an invite unless your post count is anywhere over 100, preferably more. You better have a very very good reason for why we should invite you if you just joined this board.

As you can see I have less than 10 posts on this forum but I am a member of bitfarm, unfortunately we are not allowed to just dish out invites!

Bitfarm has a point system where if you upload after the required amount you get points, with these points you get to buy things like invites and other cool goodies. There are not many members that will spend their well deserved points on invites for people that might abuse the system beyond repair!

Keep trying though and maybe just maybe you will become a bitfarm member!

I'm curious: why this idea that high post count = awesomeness ?

If I had a cent for every high post wonder who regularly posts only "+1"...

Not a personal attack, I'm just really curious here.

Back on topic:

I see many many requests to join these local groups. If I look at the amount of people who seem to have more than one intarwebz account, I wonder why more people dont go the unlimited account + giganews route?

It's not that
high post count = awesomeness,
it's that
low post count = untrustworthy
since any Tom, Frik and Larry can register and make 3 posts and we won't know anything about them ;)

I agree 110% - I've been burnt too many times with dishing out invites (both local and international) and just don't do it any more - I've belonged to most of my sites for 6+ years as a regular, and wish to keep it that way - I won't get banned again 'cos some snot-nosed-leecher decides he/she wants to rip the @$$ out of his new 4mb line, and not share back to the community - most of the closed sites I belong to don't want those types anyway...

It's not about the postcount. The point is, I know most of the people who are regulars here fairly well. Not in person, but well enough to make a guesstimate character assessment. Some of the people here have helped me etc. A random person who registered just to get an invite is a risk for the person sending the invite. splinter_watsup, Garyvdh, alt21 etc already explained it quite well imo.

If I had a cent for every high post wonder who regularly posts only "+1"...
Actually it was more a QFT because some of the people still post here after it was explained 5x that 1 post wonders are unlikely to get an invite. The +1 was an afterthought.

My account has been disabled. I guess it's because I am not seeding, but my monthly cap is finished. Who should I speak to or how can help me?

are you sure it is disabled?? they normally only do that after a few months. Surely it has not been that long already?
