Re : Bitfarm

Shouldn't you look at the posts per day count rather than the total? Honestly, there's no chance at all of being in the thousands if you just joined this year...

you can easily get over 100 in a week or a thousand in a month.

It all depends on how much you want to participate... and we are not interested in guys who do not want to participate... because there is a good chance they are leechers.

could someone invite me to newshost

You see... here is your typical garden variety N000b. He hasn't read the previous page, he only has three posts to his name... and he has no clue that the invites to Newshost are disabled and have been for ages.

A person like this is in serious danger of being very very ignored. :)

Think I'm gonna start a personal competition to see how many posts I can manage a week.

Fair enough!

I totally understand your point though. Same thing happened when theZAPortal fiasco was up and about, everyone just registered to ask about the proxy.

That really isn't the way to go about things- and I would know, I'm also new here. You have to understand these sites aren't free to run and hard to mod etc. So signing up and making you first (and only) 3 posts asking for invites makes you look like a leecher (it's very clear you only joined to get an invite). And these sites don't want leechers and the problems they bring. Rather contribute to this community first and you'll probably get an invite soon enough!

Besides if you really just wanna leech than Newshost isn't gonna be that beneficial to you. Here's what I do.

#Register at an international NZB site (Merlin's portal, NZBMatrix and United Forums are all usable and have your favourite Linux distro)
#Download NZB's with your int.
#When int is up start the downloading (hopefully you're on SAIX, so the speeds aren't too bad).
#Go to www.myisp.co.za sign up for their free bandwidth.
#Download NZB's as needed.

Another route (that I like, but others don't) is to download the headers straight of usenet and browse to your hearts content. What I like about this method is that you don't have to jump through the hoops of normal NZB sites and you're more likely to find something there that isn't listed on NZB sites.

If you have Linux (it works on windows too, but you'd have a lot of disparate downloads) you can do it with urd (http://www.urdland.com). It works beautifully.

What torrent client would you recommend on Ubuntu?

I am about to give qBittorrent a bash.

Ok, so I have a few questions.

I'm planning on just seeding some of the stuff I've got for now and see how it works and build some credits.

I'm going to set up my adsl line with a local only account specifically for this but I'm not in the mood to wrestle with that netgear router right now (maybe tomorrow) so I'm on neotel prime (which is back up to speed for now), Do I need to make any special settings for this? Also I'm going to have to do some homework on how to split the traffic. sounds like a pain in the arse to set up.

I made an attempt to look on the bf forums, but I need information in english, not mxit. (Eish, it gives me a headache).
oh, and where on the site do I find the link to download the client? I'm assuming that its a windows client.

I'm a torrent noob :), until now I have just used usenet and a ftp server I subscribe to, but I would like to get involved with local stuff. (I would never stop my ftp or usenet tho... )

Wait, which traffic do you want to separate?

You might be able to separate the local from international on your ADSL line, but I dunno if you can do that on your Neotel line.

Read here on setting up for the torrents...

Just remember that the Azureus client is not allowed on the BF network.

Basically I want the client (probably uTorrent) to only use the local only adsl line and everything else to run through the Neotel line. It will have to be on the same machine.

um, I don't think you can do that in Windows, maybe in Linux... but ask the guys in the ADSL section anyway.
