re : good price?

ok well do u okes think i should go for it? oke lives like down the road from me -
however im not sure about the motherboard? all he says is ecs and link doesnt work

Take that rig without the HDD, get a decent sized one. (if you're only gonna use it for Word and email don't bother)

here is the problem i got an old pc with specs 1gig ram celeron d 2.6 7300GT agp card. This is a sata rig - i got a 500gig ide external and 250 gig internal and another 40gig. so i would even like a smaller hd - 40gig even cos all i need is OS on their and maybe cod4 and warcraft 3.

Theres no way i could plug an IDE hd into this mobo right?

guys any suggestions as to where there is some way one can get an IDE hard drive working on a Sata II motherboard???

Ask nicely. Postman might be able to help you out. Besides, you can opt for his quote and get a brand new rig, same specs, better mobo and a guarentee. I don't think the guy down the road will offer any swopouts...:)

No Postman Pat around here AFAIK :)

Guess you'll have to find someone with an account there. Maybe someone on these forums can hook you up.

Where are you located?

Exactly :)

That guy obviously doesn't know you're registered on MyADSL, stfury ;)

He could probably sell that PC to someone who isn't "in the know" for R3k.

ty postman you really have help me alot. i have mailed him the link to this thread so he can see for himself. If he doesn't drop the price to at least 2.5k im going to tell him im not interested as you said

just outa interest wat price would you reccomend - how much do you think its worth just a ballpark figure? less than 2.5k?

No problem.

IMO forget this deal. If you have the R3k, rather get a new rig with a decent mobo...

Hmmm what's that cheap PC [online] store in Durban again, anyone? Go there if you can't get from Rectron (or another similarly-priced wholesaler).
