I have a few 2.5" 80GB Sata HDD's gathering dust in the garage. They were working about a year ago when I last checked.
They're yours if you want them
 
I'm in CPT.

I've got an old quad core Q6600 with 2GB or so of RAM.

Only issue is the Mboard *may* be faulty as it sometimes hangs on boot. I haven't bothered to diagnose it much but it looks like the mboard is the issue.

If you want it then I'd gladly ship and hopefully every little bit helps.

You would just need to cover the shipping.

Guys, I've had a slight hiccup with the delivery to Durbs - seems my contact is flying out from JHB so there is no way she can take the stuff with her.

We will need to make alternate arrangements. Sorry about this...

I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3L which is designed take a quad-core CPU. I think it's got a dual-core E8400 3GHz CPU on it already. I don't have a case though.

I'll gladly pay for the costs to get this to Durbs.
 
Cheapest way to ship is to perhaps strip my PC and send everything except case. So you will just need to purchase a case for the components?
 
There seems to be a fair number of you in the jhb region. Let me see if I can organise something with transport before we stress about couriers etc. Thanks again guys.
 
Can MyBB do a charity event where people with old computers/laptops can hand them in and they can be sent a needy school?
 
Mybb doesn't typically allow charity drives/threads as it has caused problems in the past, which is why I'm glad nobody reported this thread (don't do it, trolls).

Best not to start a charity thread...

I'm in the highway area, and work in the depths of Umhlanga, so if DJ... can get the stuff to Umhlanga I will happily fetch it during a lunchtime or after work and deliver it to you.

I also probably have some old stuff lying around at home that could maybe be used to build up a PC, or upgrade something... will have to hunt for it (doing renovations at home atm, so everything is a bit chaotic)

Sad to hear that cause in this thread alone there are at least 10+ people who are willing to give their old PCs.
 
Hey guys.

To all you JHB peeps. I have half a plan. I have family in JHB, and one of them is coming down next week or the week after. Just need to confirm that he is keen to carry for me, but then it would just be organising to get the stuff to his factory, and then he can bring it down. If I remember correctly the factory is in Boksburg. Also got a brother in Fourways who I can ask to bring down to Boksburg, and one in Pretoria.

Let me know if this would work for you guys, and I can sort addresses etc tomorrow

graviti - haven't heard back about transport so I've made a plan. Unfortunately there is no time for collection of Mike's stuff though as it is late notice.

The PC and the Raspberry Pi are going down with my sister tomorrow. Get in touch so that I can let you know where to collect it from...
