Received my salary "increase" letter

The economy is seriously messed right now. I know so many people who are struggling. Makes me feel guilty that my career seems to be going so well with bonuses every year and at least inflation based increases and sometimes more. I really don't get how some parts of the economy are doing so well while others fall.

Inflation increases is based on politics within the company.

Eish, not good. Either they gave you a ****ty % increase, or you were (are) earning peanuts.

Also part of the bonus + above inflation increase every year crew here. It's great to be in the right industry at the right time, but as always things can go south very quickly.

If you have a S### manager (hence the politics) then he will only give you the lowest percentage he possibly can based on what the union decides this year. The minimum is 6.7%.

If you have a cool manager then he will give you a little more.

Wahahahaha

Maybe in a different industry..

In IT, a 6.7% increase is currently a fantastic one.

Hmmm our household has been living on the same income for the past 7 years as the sole breadwinner hasn't received a single % in that time. I'm sure this must be bordering on illegal already

Shcit, be grateful!

My increase as of 16 feb has yet to be agreed upon, company offers 6.5% unions say "No!!!, We want 22% and we want a bonus of 18% of TCE once off as gratuity for services rendered"

I do not belong to that union!

Plus since the matter is not finalized yet, they have decided to engage in managerial tactics of changing shifts!
What does that mean to me as an employee? it means that i work longer hours, i do not get an increase, they remove all of my provisional inconvenience salary and take away 12 days of leave per year!

So fukk you and enjoy that increase!

That sucks. Sorry guys :( Here I am acting all #FirstWorldProblems while others have it worse.

Got a wicked raise...directly connected to gaining an additional qualification though so not really comparable.

Are you serious? Are you telling me that an increase between R10 000 to R20 000 on your annual is fantastic?

What industry are you guys in that you get more than 20k annual increases?
