V3g, I hope you can help here.

Before the data rates were dropped at the end of March, I phoned into the customer centre as i was thinking of upping my bundle to 1 GB - I'm on 500MB. The customer rep said I would automatically be upgraded to 1Gig as that was the same price per month.

Now we're into April, I see I'm still on 500MB. So I phone in again and get told that I wasn't upgraded, and the system won't allow any upgrade until the end of April. I'm not happy with this, since VC has not kept their word!

So I said to the lady, please upgrade me to 2 GIG to start on the first of May. No problem, she says. Now I get an SMS informing me that I will be upgraded to 2 GIG, AT A COST OF R774!!!!!! What BS is that?! No mention of this fee during the phone conversation. Not exactly the treatment I'd expect from Vodacom - you want to upgrade, to pay more per month, and you must pay a small fortune! I don't expect to pay anything to migrate - it certainly didn't cost me anything to start the contract.......

And why don't people in the call centre know what's going on? Somebody says something, and two weeks later, it's something else!

Just gave them a call, I was on the 500MB (R350pm) and still am on the 500MB now at R249pm.

Also managed to get them to change my sms notification's for the datacard to an alternative number.

Seems it's working for you. Seems that if you want to take advantage of the cheap bandwidth by increasing usage, that's where all the murky migration charges kick in.....

AFAIK migration charges only come into play if you're downgrading your package, not upgrading.

AK65, call them again. They didn't mention anything about a migration fee if u want the 1gig bundle asto your normal 500mb.

" The customer rep said I would automatically be upgraded to 1Gig as that was the same price per month"

automatically upgraded, means they do it on their side. Not at your cost.

where do they get R774.00 from???

Vodacom 500mb is R189, 1gig is R289, and 2gig is R389. THey charging u for 4gigs??

Cause 2x R389 = R778 (wich seems close) ??

call them asap bro.. before they charge u for all that crap
