Hi guys,

Could you recommend a good socket 1156 CPU Cooler? I was going to go with the Corsair H50 but it was out of stock and I've changed my mind.

So Which Cooler would be best?

Thanks in advance.

H50 is awesome. I'd wait for stock of that to come in.

The next best thing is the Coolit Domino ALC imo, although I'm not entirely sure if its compatible with 1156... and I'm way too lazy to check.

Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 Black Edition with 90cfm coolermaster 120mm fan.
core i7 860 idles at 22 degrees, room temperature is 18 degrees. And it wont sound like a hair dryer.

Well I did always want a TRUE. I never knew it had brackets for 1156. Also will it fit in a CM 690?

I'm not sure there are brackets in the retail pack for 1156.

Check dimensions on Thermalright site. Then measure your case...

Corsair H50, my i5 750 @ 3.8Ghz, Load temps at 55degrees during heavy gaming,

On another note, i have a spare H50 1156 bracket for anyone looking for one. I received two from corsair after two months of waiting, anyone interested can PM me.

Nope, will have to buy "Thermalright LGA1156 clip support for all Ultra series" separate.

Will fit in the CM690.

The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 and Hyper 212 Plus are also good at a fraction of the cost.

I know I am resurrecting an old thread, but some time has past since the last post and I didn't want to start a new thread.

Anywho, Is the 212+ still the best to get or has there been some new additions?

Cooler Master Hyper 212+ is still the absolute best bang for your buck.. (fans not the quietest, even though only a bit noisy at load, ..still I'd get a better pwm/non-pwm, if you have the cash)
next best would probably be the Cogage True Spirit (not sure if it fits 1156) , and if you're going to shell out for a TRUE black type priced cooler, you might as well get the Cogage Arrow at the same price, which is better, if it'll fit your case.

I currently have the Cogage true spirit and it only fits the 1366/775. :(

True black priced cooler, then I will go for the H50, same with the arrow.

If you push-pull that 212+ you'll probably not see better temps with a H50..

No, thanx. I am not that into OCing.

Neither am I but even at stock speeds you get great improvements in temperatures ;)
I'm running my CPU at stock speeds. If I want I can OC but right now I have no need to.

With my cooler (just set my CPU to stock) My temps are sitting around 15 avg, Lowest is 12 at the moment..
The Hyper is also an awesome cooler, the one thing i didn't like was that the contact between cpu and cooler is direct to the heat pipes, not a flat even surface.. But beside that you won't go wrong :)
