Jazz is an awesome car! Really nice to drive but isn't totally stable at 120kph when there's wind

Just replace the Dunflop tyres that the Jazz ship with, with something decent and you have a stable car.

Could be . Don't remember what was on the car and we didn't replace tyres while we owned it

R5,000. But then again turbos barely ever pop.

Maintenance is on par with Polos/Golfs.

Anything under 150,000km is low mileage, 100,000km being the sweet spot.

Plenty bargains out there but although we know you love them, don't single out Audis when Mercs are solid too.

I have never had that issue with the wifes car

it is abit sluggish thought seeing its a bigger car with a 1.4 motor

but its very very light on fuel ...can achieve around 6/ 100km in city driving as well

Chevrolet Aveo (post 2007 model) is likely to be in your price range with under 100k on the clock. Just have the timing belt assembly looked at around 60 000km, apart from that they're generally reliable. I think the newer models have a more durable belt that only needs replacing at 100k.

It's a polo,what is there to say? Reliable and easy to find parts but boring as an episode of Fokus and not many creature comforts.

Won't let you down, but will probably put you to sleep.

By 'excitement' do you mean that tension you feel when you pull out to overtake a truck and the turbo pops?

My 2c on turbos popping - if it were that common, you'd be able to buy a new Audi turbo from the garage quick shop along with a loaf of bread and a litre of milk, just next to the shrink-wrapped headlight bulbs and packs of twenty fuses when you really only need one.

the VW interior in a golf trendline(and more so in the polo) is incredibly boring and featureless compared to competition IMO.

If OP wanted to go VAG for it's reliability and ability to hold value then why not take the better looking,better specced and more exciting(once again IMO) Audi?

I reckon the cloth interior in the Golf 5 is very good. Is 'boring' really an issue once you're sitting comfortably inside your car?

The console/dash is also classy and ahead of its time. Driver instrument cluster too.

The problem with Audi is that VW's resale value does not extend to Audis.
