I am upgrading my pc to a Intel Core Duo 2 and a Intel motherboard. Can somone suggest a good PCI-E graphics card?
I am looking at spending aroud R1000.

Thanks :)

These are all in your budget range

Ati Radeon X1600PRO 256MB 128 Bit DDR2 PCI-X16 DVI+TV-In/Out (Asus)
Geforce 7600GS 256MB DDR2 DVI PCI-X16- Legend
Geforce 8500GT 450M 256MB DDR2 TV - XFX
GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128Bit DDR3 PCI-X16 (Sli+DVI-i) - XFX

Should I worry about DX10? How about:
Sparkle Nvidia® GeForce™ 7300GT 512MB DDR2 128Bit PCI-E 16x Graphics Controller
R 1098.16

Get either one of these.

Geforce 8600GT 256MB DDR3 DUAL DVI TV-Out - XFX R 1,230
Ati Radeon X1950Pro 256MB 256Bit DVI + TV Out Vivo (Asus) R 1,549
GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128Bit DDR3 (DVI-i) - XFX R 899

Rather save your money for another month or tow and get an 8600GT or one of the X1950 cards. You'll regret buying for R1K trust me on that... I once owned an MX440 :(

I have to agree with ShockG, rahter go without it another month or 2 and get a better card

I bought the 7600GT last year this time.. Gainward 7600GT for R2300 at the time, still a freaking awesome card :)

but maybe look at the 8600's now?

I'd recommend the ATI 2600 Pro over the 8500GT, should be in the same price range, but we're still waiting for them here.

But if you were going to go for the 8500GT it would definitely be worth the money getting a 8600GT instead.
