Recommend a Webhost For a Heavy Traffic Website (> 100G)

Hi,


I'm looking for a web host for a heavy traffic website. At the moment, my site exceeds 100G a month. I am even considering hosting the site overseas but I want to look at everything I can find within the country first as I don't want to deal with people via email when there are problems.

So far I have looked at MWEB and their Uncapped Website Hosting Ultra seems alright. Are there any other hosting companies with similar offerings as MWEB in SA? Many don't qualify though as their bandwidth limit varies from 5-60G.

Are you sure their uncapped is right for you? No video or audio streaming is part of the AUP.

Speak to MTN Business and Afrihost as well. Otherwise if you want to go overseas, Rackspace is awesome!
 
How much do you want to pay? You can get a dedicated host with Hetzner for less than ~R200, or a more powerful VPS for under R100 nowdays. Both have bandwidth limits upwards of 2TB per month ( before they throttle you to 10Mb/s )

No there are no video or audio files on my site. Just many people...

However, I am not really sure whether MWEB is the right host either as it is hard to find reviews online except on this forum but the biggest problem now is that my site is offline and I need sort that out as soon as possible

Curious about what site uses so much bandwidth without media sharing. You allowed to tell?

Or will you give clues and a prize for the first correct guess...

I don't see this option on their website. Instead they have packages that start at around R900 a month.

Hello

Our company does uncapped hosting but I can guarantee you that it wont be R99. We already host a few websites that does over 3TB a month. We don't charge at all for bandwidth usage as most of the upstream providers doesn't either anymore. The greedy ISP's still does charge you for bandwidth.

If its a news server, nzb related server or torrent server dont bother contacting me.

What are your requirements in terms of backend resources and what Webserver do prefer using.... Apache/Nginx or IIS?

consider putting the site behind cloudflare since most the international CDN's is available locally now anyway thanks to MWEB

A word of caution in regards to using cloudflare.
We have seen reports from people losing their page rank on search engines due to the IP changing.
If you dont care much for page rank then cloud flare isn't a bad idea.
