Recommend me a TV

Is it not possible to repair plasma TV sets? I often hear about gas that needs to be replaced.

Anything can be repaired.

Whether it makes economical sense is the real question. And it doesn’t.

Well, insurance sent a crew around to fetch the TV. They will see if they can repair it, else it will be a write off. They did say that the model has been discontinued and they doubt they will find parts, also that their suppliers are closed in any case.

Let's see what happens.

But the Sinotec doesnt have Optical out. That's how I connect my home theatre system.

So you’ll hold the more expensive and important device back to cater for the cheaper one?

Replace the home theatre with the TV.

But also, don’t buy a Sinotec.

What home theatre system do you have?
You should be connecting all your devices to your ht receiver then use one hdmi cable to your tv.

Will play around with sound when I eventually get a new TV. Will be about a month I guess.

"Both HDMI and optical pass digital audio from one device to another. Both are better than analog (the red and white cables). Both can pass multi-channel audio, like*Dolby Digital. Both cables can be had pretty cheap.

The biggest difference is that HDMI can pass higher-resolution audio, including the formats found on Blu-ray:*Dolby TrueHD and*DTS HD Master Audio. These formats can't get transmitted across optical."

Seems like much of a muchness but I will try HDMI. Back in the day I new less than now and a friend did the setup for me.

Not at all. Technically, there are a few bits of difference, but they are below the perceptual level in any living room I’ve ever seen or been in.

You won’t be able to tell the difference. The two major contributors to distortion and such are your speakers, and the shape of the room and all the things in it.
