Hi Guys, As the title suggests. I'm looking for something new to read. I generally prefer sci-fi and fantasy.. But am open to anything.

Recommend me your favorite author and or book :)

Robert Jordan: The Wheel of Time series (14 book epic fantasy saga)

Brandon Sanderson: The Stormlight Archives (currently 2 books)

Other works by Brandon Sanderson are also great.

Jayde ver Elst - Usu

Anybody read this? Curious as I kinda knew the author

Only one good fantasy suggestion there and that's Game of Thrones.

Wheel of Time series starts off as a blatant LOTR ripoff, which killed the series for me. The storytelling improves, but his characters are one-dimensional and very shallow.

David Eddings, only tried reading one book. I trashed it it was so badly written.

GoT is a good bet. Otherwise there is a series by Joe Abercrombie (The Blade Itself is the first book) which is really good.

Kevin Hearne - iron druid chronicle
Larry Correia - monster hunter international
Jim Butcher - dresden files and codex alera
John Scalzi - old man war
Jack Campbell - the lost fleet

Should keep you busy for a few months

George Orwell - 1984 and Animal Farm
The latter will help you to understand the ANC, the former will help you to understand what the media, including MyBB are trying to achieve

Lol, I tend to agree with you to a certain extent

Michael Crichton - Read all his books, he was the best
Clive Cussler - Great writer, His Dirk Pit series of books is great Adventure/Sci-Fi/tech like story

Thanks Guys, some of the above i have already read, but there are a handful that i have never heard of! So i will be checking them out :)

David Gemmel

He by far trumps Feist, Jordan, Eddings, Martin and others mentioned here.

By far the best heroic fantasy author out there.

Drenai Series
Rigante Series
Jon Shannow Series

Those are all great starters for Gemmel and if you don't love them then there's something wrong with you :P

Old man war was great, another poster recommended any Michael Crichton books, all good too. Must read the Jurassic Park book, alot more dark and adult than the film.
