Looking to get myself a new car, well not totally new but something from 2015 that still has most of its service plan.

Max 200k.

I have my eye on the Renault Clio (the 66kW one), but won't know until I test drive them. Then there is the i20 and Kia Rio (personally prefer the Rio's design) and the Fiesta.

Is there something else I should look at?

Don't bother recommending the VW Polo, yes it's a great car but about as pleasant to look at as a piece of toast.

Your list of cars is as follows:

(Alphabetical order)

  • Audi A1 (Budget concerns)
  • Chevrolet Sonic
  • Chevrolet Spark
  • Fiat 500
  • Fiat Punto
  • Ford Ecosport
  • Ford Fiesta
  • Ford Figo
  • Honda Brio
  • Kia Picanto
  • Hyundai i10
  • Hyundai i10 Grand
  • Hyundai i20
  • Mazda 2 (Budget concerns)
  • Mini Cooper (Budget concerns)
  • Nissan Micra (I'd rather inflict self harm upon myself)
  • Opel Adam
  • Opel Corsa
  • Renault Clio
  • Toyota Aygo

My pick would probably be the Mazda 2, but the budget might be stretched. Otherwise the Fiesta would be my choice.

Mazda 2 or Fiesta. I have the Fiesta(ecoboost) and love it.

If you are considering a Fiesta with a powershift auto box please prepare yourself for a shock when you have to replace the transmission oil.
That service item for oil, filter and labour is +R5000.00 and is recommended every 60,000km.

Auto schmauto!

Most people also forget about the suzuki swift which is a great car.

You can get a great Fiesta for that budget

Yes, the Mazda is still cheaper and review looks pretty good:

I'm going to a few places today to do some initial comparisons and hopefully narrow down the list.
