Hi all

Does anyone have a solution to record calls made on a VOX Supafone?
I use the VOX line, connected to Netgear ADSL 3G router. I need to be able to record those calls made from / to the VOX line.

I've looked online but most VOIP call recorders monitor the PC soundcard only (for applications like Skype), and won't work for VOX as the call goes through the ethernet connection to the router.

Any ideas?

Thx,
Shane

Hi ShaneVanS,

If you are ok with using another VoIP provider (that is not VOX) to record all your incoming/outgoing calls then PM me for details.

Hi Shane,

I saw a solution for this a couple of years back - product is called Red Tin (a quick google shows a couple of local suppliers still advertising it, but I have no idea if the original manufacturer exists any more). It works with an interface that hooks in between the handset and the phone, taking the analog voice from there and into the pc sound card (line in / mic). Software on the pc manages the recording, catalogues and saves the files locally or on a network drive.

Q-Tech

EDIT : FFS - Just saw the Supafone handset is cordless, so this solution won't work - no cable to hook into. Apologies - going off to slap myself

Yip, I have a similar (to Red Tin) solution for my analogue line. In theory it would work on the VOX phone too, except the VOX "phone line" connects via ethernet cable to the router, and not via telephone cable :(

You may want to think about using a hosted option and then there is no hardware for the recording. Its simply part of the package, you just need an IP phone, soft phone, ATA or whatever! Real simple !

You can use a simple pc running asterisk to handle the recording some linksys routers can even run asterisk. You then set up the asterisk to connect to vox, and set up your supaphone to connect to the asterisk.

The asterisk server can then also be used to do voicemail, voice prompts, or pretty much anything yo may want to do.

For a simple setup i would suggest the free version of digium's switchvox, since you dont need any linux knowledge to get it up and running. If you have a pc that's already always on, you can run the switchvox inside a virtual machine

You get microphones that clip onto the handset and record the call.

Example : Olympus TP-8 Telephone Pick-Up
