Hi Guys,

I've been struggling to get any decent software development candidates in JHB.
I've tried using several recruitment agencies, but have been disappointed with what they've given me thus far.
Are there any particular agencies anyone would recommend for recruiting intermediate to senior developers (particularly with .NET and ASP.NET skills and experience) in JHB?

What exactly are you looking for, and where would the new recruit be based? (You can PM me if you want to keep it off public forums)

The position would be based in central JHB.
I'm looking for the following in terms of technologies/skills. I don't expect a recruit to be excellent in all of these, but ultimately they would be learnt and used in the job.
Microsoft .NET 3.5 and newer (C#) (experience in Web Services and Workflow Foundation a plus)
ASP.NET
SQL Server 2005 and newer (experience in Analysis Services, Integration Services and Reporting Services a plus)
HTML
Javascript
Object Orientated design principles and patterns
Architecture design principles

Damn, all the good business is in JHB.

Sorry, you lost me on "Central JHB". Pity - looks like a good position, and suits me well. Why does it always have to be Central JHB? (Does Midrand count? ;))

Our head office is based there and so are our clients. We have some guys who even travel from PTA and Springs, so Midrand isn't THAT far ;)

I've been living and working in Midrand for so long that I'm spoilt. ;)

Care to "name and shame"? We could recommend (I've had good results as a job seeker on careerjunction.co.za, but wouldn't know how it works as a client), but we might be giving you what you already tried.

Not yet, I'm still giving them a chance ;) I think the major issues are that they (the recruiters) lack the technical background to be able to screen candidates accurately, the luck of which individual recruiter you're dealing with and the fact that they have preferred clients to whom they send the best candidates first. And I hate the way some of them mutilate people's original CVs (copying and pasting into their own template). I know that the ones I'm using also use PNet.

Never worked at a recruitment agency (or been on the receiving end, with the agency being the channel [severe deep fading from what you say :p] and me being the transmitter) but there's a reason why I always send out my CV as a pdf :/ Though one might say mine isn't an average CV as such. But that's really scaly of them.

Career Junction is terribly coded. Half the time it simply doesn't work.

Let me guess 200 to 250K depending on experience.

So can the OP give a rough indication of the Salary for this position? :)
