:erm: why tell clients what you(their retailers) pay for stock?

If I was on a budget, I wouldn't want to know my shopkeeper is selling something to me with 20% interest. When I don't have a guarantee that he will still be in business in 3 years time when my expensive goods' guarantees run out.

People have the right (sort of) to know when they are being taken for a ride. Giving them access to a price list like so will enable people to know when someone is taking them for a ride and when someone has decent markups.

Enough of a reason for ya? :)

pathetic reasoning.

If a retailer adds 50% to their cost they will not be able to offer a great or market related price...

= they will go out of business soon. In today's society people shop around for best prices.

Here's the thing.

If OP actually does have an account with Rectron, he/she should ask their salesmen. If OP doesn't, then there's no harm in giving him a pricelist seeing he/she cannot buy from them anyway.

Also, Rectron aren't the cheapest when it comes to certain goods.

Yes I work in the industry.

Most retailers work on a 20% markup unless they are based in JHB, where they can drop their margins a bit because most of the suppliers are there and don't have to work in courier costs.

That's one thing I hate about people when they come to my place of work. They say they can get x and y product from a and b online store for cheaper. I'm like, well yeah, there's no courier costs involved for them, you're going to be paying for courier costs which will work out to be the same as our price, and if it pops, you have to pay for couriers back there.

They think they're clever. I lol at them.

True story, customer wanted to buy a gaming PC. We couldn't match the quote he got from Prophecy. (Around 12k iirc and the best we could of done was probably R500 more) Told him what I said above. 2 months later he came back with said PC bought from Prophecy. Something broke. We diagnosed. Board popped. He sent the whole PC back. I ended up selling him a PC anyway.

Just because something might be cheaper from online stores. Always remember about after sales service. One thing we pride ourselves in.

Who cares whether he's registered with them or not? He can't buy from them anyway and with their prices who would. Pricelist is handy to have though if you just want to look something up. Their product range is also up to schit.

I am more than happy to mail it to you, I could care less if someone knows. If retailers are adding so much then screw them if not then whats the problem? Why are they so scared?

I also dont for one minute think everybody should buy from them even if they could. I prefer dealing with a retailer, let them deal with the issues, thats what the margins are for.

I believe that you when you receive a disty's price ist, it is supplied on a confidential basis, in which case, if you conduct your business honestly, you adhere to that confidentiality.
