Refreshing to 1mps afrihost or telkom?

My line is also with Afrihost, and it was syncing at 4mbps. Yesterday I did a port reset via the Afrihost Client Zone, and when it reconnected, I was syncing at 6mbps. I phoned Telkom this morning, and they bumped it up to 8mbps at my request. Unfortunately our exchange doesn't support higher than 8mbps, or so I've been told.

3 of our company lines are with Telkom, and after speaking to the Telkom call center, they bumped 2 of them up tp 8mbps (can't go any higher) while the 3rd was already at its max of 6mbps and couldn't go higher. I'm guessing there's several DSLAMs in the Exchange. The 6mbps line is probably connected to an older one, while the 8mbps lines are connected to a newer one. And those who can sync at 10mbps are probably on even newer DSLAMs.

So it seems you could contact either Afrihost or Telkom. I found the Telkom service to be very quick and efficient. Was on hold for less than a minute both times. Consultants were friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience. Well done Telkom.

You should call us, if your exchange has been upgraded we can sync you on 1Mbps (though Telkom should have done it automatically if it were).

did the checker says minimum 1mbps
call center guy said it`l be done in <24hrs,that was 8ish hours ago
will see what happens :)
 
uuh quick question Do I need to reset my router to see the changes? or will it disconnect then reconnect @ 1mbps?

It should disconnect and reconnect on it's own. But switching the router on and off is still a good idea, to make sure your connection is reset cleanly.
 
Old bump but someone at afrihost screwed up....phoned telkom and they bumped me to 1meg immidiately(as in Please check now sir while I hold on the phone).
This was a few months ago
probably a few days from the time I posted in this thread
