Is there any way/program that I can make my PC DVD Writer Region Free?

Anybody got something free which works with vista?? I know any dvd is compatible with vista but I don't have the money now to get the incensed version.

Download www.remoteselector.com - it's free and maybe it will work with Vista although I doubt XP software works with Vista.

Otherwise Fengtao software has a freeware DVD region removal app
as has AnyDVD (Shareware).

My 2c here - I "upgraded" two different drives with patched firmware from this site. One was fine but the other was never quite the same again, even after reverting to the latest supplier's firmware - it might have been a bad drive but be a bit careful.

I hate playing around with firmware. Bad experiences are coming back to haunt me...

DVD43

Easy to use. No issues. Only problem I had was that it autostarted everytime windows booted. But that's nothing msconfig couldn't sort out.

DVD43 is great, works like a charm - I recommend it to anyone not using Vista64 - unfortunately as I am upgrading to 4Gb Ram will I need to use Vista 64 in the future - and DVD43 doesn't work on the 64bit version (according to the creator).

Does anyone know of a similar freeware program which will work on Vista64?

Give VLC a try, it tends to ignore the region codes of the drive - unless the drive has more advanced protection. Always has worked for me though.

VLC won't work with region locked hardware. The drive itself won't
feed the data. You need to hack the drive first.

Oh and NOTHING works for Panasonic drives.
Not AnyDVD or Fengtao's DVDRegion Free. Nothing.
