I R a bit confused. I received my early access code yesterday and registered an account. I purchased my copy today and logged into my account to update it with the retail serial number (which differs from the early access code) and I cannot find a link or any info on my account stating where I can update the account.

Any help clarifying this up?

My one also doesn't ask for the retail key after adding the 1 day access code yesterday

AFAIK, the early access code automatically becomes your retail key.

You go to https://register.guildwars2.com/ and enter your updated key along with your current account information.

Did this the day I got my physical copy to move over from the pre-release key.

First game I have ever bought where I have not even taken out the disc, actually updated my key at work and simply carried on playing when I got home.

Yes, some users, such as Collectors Edition people may also end up with a slight name change. So if you were CharacterName.XXXX then your new name will still have the main character name, but the number at the end could change. The good news is that it should not make any difference to your account, and all your friends/contacts/guild info should automatically update as well. So you should not have to tell anyone that your name changed as they will likely not even notice the number change :)
