Actually bought the shutter release today.

Couldn't find a SINGLE Canon in stock anywhere - so I went 3rd party :/

I have a tripod and know the basics of it - I just wanted to know if there was something recommended or something to avoid. Also needed to know for sure it could lock.

The R200.00 one at Makro doesn't fit a 7D :/ If you can find it for the 7D, the Canon release is just under R600.00

So I finally got around to opening up my Hahnel Giga T Pro, but I couldn't get it working.
The receiver works off a small 3V CR2 battery, which came included in the pack.
I'm assuming the battery is just dead, because the receiver won't power on. The transmitter powers on just fine but it doesn't want to control the camera even when tethered. Speaking of tethering - of the three connector cables, only one fits my D90. It plugs into the GPS connection though - is that right? My Hahnel model specifically states that it's for the D90.

I can't find a CR2 battery at the shops - does anybody know where I can get one?
Does the Receiver have to be connected to the camera (on the flash mount) and active/activated before the Transmitter will be recognised by the camera? (when tethered)
Is connecting it via the GPS port the right way to do it?

EDIT: Just wanted to add that the user manual and FAQs and all related material on Hahnel's site has helped squat to answer these questions. It also claims the transmitter can be tethered and used as a basic trigger, but it doesn't work either and they don't explain anything about how to do this in the user manual either.
