Renaul Duster Experience o far

Renault SA adds dual-clutch model to Duster range

The Renault Duster can now be had in EDC form.

Renault South Africa has expanded its local Duster range, adding a dual-clutch version of the diesel-powered, front-wheel-drive derivative. The newcomer is set to go on sale in mid-August.

The 1,5 dCi engine, which makes 80 kW and 240 N.m in the manual model, can now be mated to the French automaker’s EDC transmission, and gains an extra 10 N.m in the process.

This six-speed dual-clutch transmission – which cannot be had in the all-wheel-drive variant – results in a claimed consumption figure of 4,8 L/100 km (the same as the manual model), with CO2 emissions coming in at 126 g/km.

As with the rest of the Duster range, standard safety equipment includes ABS with EBD as well as four airbags. The new EDC-equipped derivative (along with the range-topping 4×4 model) furthermore features ESP with traction control.

All models come with a five-year/150 000 km warranty and three-year/45 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km) as standard. Metallic paint will cost you an extra R2 500, while optional leather seats come in at R10 000.

Renault Duster 1,6 Dynamique: R259 900

I have just bought a Renault Duster 4WD 1.5 DCi and am very impressed with the vehicle. Taking into account the Price, one cannot expect a Land Cruiser or Honda CRV, so if you want all the goodies and leather seats, rather buy a CRV or Cruiser. The duster is very capable and impressed me from the first 5Km I drove it. The Fuel consumption was my ultimate challenge. If Renault states it could get 5.3L/100Km, I must challenge that. This is exactly what I did and took it on the N1 North at between 85 and 100Km/h and I managed to get 23.8Km/l which works out to 4.2L/100KM. This is the best I got it up to and this lasted from Gordon Road to Rivonia Road. Any one that can better that?

If I can figure out a way to add the Photo from my Desktop I will to prove my statement.

BY The way. Renault Clearwater is the best in the whole of Gauteng. if you need a mater of Service and Passion for Customers, go and see Barry Oosthuize or Clifford Irving, man these oaks are great!

Howzit - i have just taken over my dads duster 2015 dci dynamique 4x2 and i absolutely love it! I get over 900km every tank and that's normal everyday to and from work. Most i have got is 993. Once you hit your last line of the fuel gauge regardless of what the OBC says - you need to fill up - my OBC zeroed out at 136 km to empty so watch out - last line - fill up.

I have just filled my car this morning and the fuel guage hasnt reset - ie still sitting on the last line - switched off and one twice - no change - lol the joys of owning a renault....

yes it doesnt have all the features of your modern cars (which is dissapointing because they wont sell as many) but the SUV feel and that diesel engine - it feels so quick - and it goes so nicely i love it - screw the features - i love it just the way it is.

Value for money 10/10 - The new ones all come with a new designed dash and speed control - so glad they realised they made a mistake with the first model - i see alot on the road - and they are clunky but they awesome!

The fuel guage not resetting is a known issue on Renaults. Go to a Renault workshop to have it fixed. Takes about 30s and is free.
The last time it happened with my wife's Duster, i askedthe tech to show me, but he didn't want to.
The reason it happens is because you kept the console switched on during the refill. Switch off everything, and remove the key for added peace of mind, and it won't happen again.

If it is such a quick fix by Renault themselves then it's probably just a case of unplugging and plugging in a cable or sensor or fuse.

@neilronaldson, maybe the next time it happens try pull the battery negative lead to reset the ECU and dash to see if that solves it? You may lose your stored radio presets and settings though

The Duster is the new kid on the block so it will inevitably attract some solicitous comments. My 4x4 driving experience is limited to a home-built DKW Munga-derivative, a Geländewagen, a (military) Land Rover and Willys Jeep, a Discovery, a Hilux and a Fortuner. Whilst I would be hesitant to take the Duster into heavy rocky terrain, it outperforms them all in heavy sand - which is all that I require. It also uses about half the fuel of the others without compromising on performance so it is the ideal vehicle for my needs. I have but one gripe: the fuzzy floor mats are almost impossible to clean. They cling to foreign matter like velchro seeking its mate.

Duster is R500k now what happened?? :(
No, it's not, where are you looking?
The most expensive model is R410k. Price has still gone up because there are no more petrol models in the range but it is still not too badly priced, it starts just over R350k.
