How to renew your car licence disc without getting stuck in a queue

The South African Post Office (SAPO) offers licence disc renewals at their branches, but many South Africans would prefer to not get stuck in massive queues.

There are other ways of renewing your licence without having to visit a branch.

2 business days, charged R150 over the base fee.

We use a tannie who does the renewals for R130.

Definitely not an ANC run municipality!
At ours, the lines are out the door. 2 out of 3 tellers are always on lunch. Offline after 11:30am or closed because Covid only spreads after 11:30am.

Finding the right post office helps... Often there is one that many people forget about...

The other methods seems to involve a wait to actually get the disks...

No thank you. Spar has been doing my license renewal for some years. But now, I have found another online service (carlicense.co.za) who has been doing my renewal the past two years. Great service. No need for me to make use of any bank or post office any time soon.

On Friday I paid for my renewal and today Tuesday @ 8:20 it was delivered.
