I just got a movie that is 1.3GB and supposed to be 2hours long from file properties, but it only plays for 4 minutes and media player just says its 4minutes long.
I found this nice little application that actually scans for errors and fix them. It's only about 700kb big and it makes a copy of the video which is repaired instead of having to recode the whole movie so it only takes a few minutes instead of 1 - 2 hours.

yeah vlc repairs it before playing but doesn't save it, think you have to recode/convert&save it or something...
I had better luck with avi fixed.

BTW can anyone recommend a good tool to sync audio that is out of sync?

VirtualDub does that, I think. VLC can also sort that out but only while you are watching the movie, so it's a temp fix, whereas VirtualDub is a permanent fix.
