Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any knowledge on where one could replace the battery for a MacBook Pro Retina 13" (Mid 2014) in SA?

The cycle count is 315 and the battery no longer seems to hold its charge for the length of time it used to previously.

Any idea on the cost of a replacement. I do not want to do this replacement myself.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

PS: I am Located in Johannesburg / Sandton Area

315 seems very low. But you'll be looking at quite a bit of money. I even generics go for more than R2000.

Ya that seems very low. My 2010 MacBook Pro 13" has over 1000 cycles and still holds at least 2hrs of youtube watching.

315 is very low, if I remember Apple says they are designed to do something like 800 or 1000 before you'll start to see a serious degrade in performance. I've helped people on 2009 and 2010 Macbooks which had well over 1000 cycles and then the batteries still lasted a good 2 hours or so.

Is it very bad as in it doesn't hold a charge at all, or is it just not lasting long enough to your liking anymore?

It will be a expensive fix, if you really need long battery life as in no access to a charger for long periods, then maybe consider getting a newer MacBook. Alternatively adapt and plug it in more often.

Might sound funney to say this, but I for example will plug in my MBP when ever I can, when sitting at my desk at work etc. My one colleague on the other hand will only plug in his when the battery is flat, he will sit working at his desk the entire day with his MBP running on battery power, then plug it in only when he runs out of juice. His MBP has a cycle count of over 800, mine is currently on 93 I just checked, both were bought more or less the same time and both had under 50 cycles when we got them.

Cheers, Many thanks for all the replies.

The laptop is simply not holding its charge as well as it used to. The battery life obviously varies depending on the use [4 - 7 hours]

Was just curious to see what the cost a replacement would be given that Apple is generally rather pricey when it comes to replacement parts.

At 4-7 hours I would hardly spend the money to get a little bit more.

That's still stellar performance.
