Hi,
I purchased a Xperia Z3 Compact from Orange online store a few months ago.
After about 3 months all photos it was taking where out of focus. Eventually I sent it back to Orange to repair.

I got informed today that they have lost it. But they have offered me a refund, or a replacement.

I wanted a replacement, but it then turns out they are out of stock of the Xperia Z3 Compact.
I got it for R5565 (I think).

Since it is no longer in stock, can you guys give me alternative phones at a similar price which are as good as the Xperia Z3 Compact?

Thanks.

NOTHING.
At least at that size and with that battery life.

I'd say the Galaxy S5 would be closest to covering all the bases and similar in the budget range too. The LG G4 is larger, and has considerably worse battery life, but is a nicer phone (than the S5) and is also around there.

Do you want another tiny phone?

Otherwise I'd take:

Do you mind paying in?

Thanks for the responses. I'm waiting on them to come back with the possible replacement.
Once they do I'll make a decision whether I want it, or a refund.

Don't really want to have to pay in R4000 to get the Z5 - although it does look sweet!

I do like the screen size of the Z3 Compact, so would ideally like something similar.

I am currently using my very old Galaxy Nexus and am happy with its screensize too, which is 4.65".

Thanks.

Wow, I didnt realise that 4.5inch devices have become rare. You should get a 5inch device and will eventually be accustomed to the size difference.

I think you should ask for a refund and either and wait for the Sony M5 or the new nexus 5.Those devices arent much bigger than the Z3 compact.

Especially with flagship level specs, the Sony Compacts are the only ones doing that. All others cut hardware for their smaller phones.

I agree with this advice, 5" is the new "small" size in phones.

Thanks for the advice given.
An update - when I tried to get Orange to issue a refund, they then told me they had not lost the phone and currently had it at the repair center. That was last week. I phoned again today to be told the phone is still being assessed.
So they've now had the phone for 7 weeks. They claim a turn around time of 30 days.
I am tired of dealing with them and am now just trying to get my money back.

I'd say be careful of returning anything to Orange. Buying from them was great, but if the item needs to be repaired, don't send it to Orange - you'll most likely never see it again.

just a thought. I have the g4. and so does my SO.

she was worried it would be too big. (jokes aside now be nice...)

she was used to it in a few days.

honestly it is the best phone I have ever used, by a long way. trust me, the moment your fingers feel that leather back, and the first RAW photo you take is moved over to the SD card you will be in love.

Went through this last year. Took them 5 months for them to refund me. Good luck.

I was so worried I'd end up having the same experience as you, Sysem! I really didn't want to wait 5 months to get my refund.
But it came through this morning - so only about 5 days which isn't too bad!

Now to decide on a new phone.
Like the look of the Nexus 5x - but will have to get a mate to buy it from the US as prices everywhere else are so much more.
Or I see everyone seems to rave about the LG G4.
The Motorola Play Moto X Play has also had some good reviews.

Out of all of those, which takes the best photos, do you guys think?

Thanks for all the help!

G4. Despite not quite having the biggest pixel count it's rated as one of the best mobile cams around at the moment.
