I have a Acer Aspire One Netbook, model No: NAV 50, 532h-2588
The screen got cracked when something fell on it. Except for the screen, the netbook works perfectly. Does anyone know of a reputable place that can supply me with a replacement screen? Also, do you guys think it's worth even bothering trying to repair it? Thanks.

i asked price once for a client for a 10 inch screen , was like R1200, not sure if that is normal o.0

I gave up finding replacement screen for my netbook, just costs too much :(

You can try a few specialist stockists in UK/USA - a lot cheaper but not sure about reliability...

Thanks guys, for the info. I cruised around the net and found a place that has a screen for R636 including shipping. I'll order one as soon as I get some cash. Thanks again.

Do you know how to replace the old screen with the new one? cause you might have to find someone on forums to help you.

I found a couple of videos on youtube that show exactly how to do it. Specifically for the Aspire One. Thanks for the help.

yeh, I had to replace the screen on my acer one after my dog played frisbee with it and youtube was awesome, easy step by step instructions, was quite easy and I'm a bit of a technophobe.

Check ebay also, you might find something cheaper

I gave up on eBay. I can never find a seller that will ship to SA. I checked out myus.com but their shipping rates are ridiculous. I asked in another thread if I'm miscalculating the way myus.com works but I did not get an answer. Thanks anyway.

While i'm waiting for a new screen for the netbook, I thunk of an idea: can the netbooks screen be completely disabled, removed and then the remainder of the netbook attached to a PC screen and used as a normal PC? The idea would be to mount the netbook at the back of the screen and attach a USB mouse, keyboard and have an integrated PC for normal office type use.

Does anyone know if there are any downsides to this or why it won't work? Thanks.

If the netbook has a video output port then yes it would work. If it has no video output then you are kinda stuffed as you cannot directly interface the lcd output on the MB to a display.
