Republicans at it again

Are you American, African or British?

He sounds like one of those he's trying to defend the POTUS against, to be honest. :) I know some Americans - retired colonels from the USAF and MC and heck - no-one talks this way in real life.

+1 for MG gutter journalism. MG is not worth the paper it's printed on.

But yet I don't understand why South Africans would give a sh¡t about American politics when we have such a massive circus of our own to focus our attention upon.

Wiz is just trolling.

Alan, do not feed the ....

Come on....

Yeah sorry, forgive me poor Wiz is going through a tough time of it at the moment.

Are not or weren't? I think both parties views have changes somewhat in recent years/centuries.

True. Hence why black bigots now support Dems. Hell the Dem president's mentor is one eish :erm:

Notice how they tried to link the protesters to McVeigh. They practice the same fear mongering they claim to oppose. Hypocrites

I've posted a comment on their site. It's currently being "moderated". Given the Guardians contempt for those that don't toe the line what are the odds of them suppressing my post :erm:

If you say so. I feel pretty strongly about my country. Basically I'm the right-wing militiaman CNN warned you about, but that's not my point. Just want to get across that there are good people everywhere--even in the Southern US. :)

Republicans are not racists. In fact it was Republican Abraham Lincoln who helped abolish slavery in the Democratic South. LOL.

Go Reps!!!

Erm.. I know.. back then the Republican Party was the liberal party. Keep up with the century and the context Pete. You do know I am speaking about modern day politics right? You are able to keep up arnt you?

Next.. could you point out in this thread where I called Republicans racists? I called them a lot of names but going over this thread I cant see the racist claim. Im not saying thats not true, Im just trying to see how in your warped sex fantasies .. I called Republicans racist in this thread.

Fk ure you lie constantly. . I called them a cesspool of corruption.

PLEASE STOP LYING PETERCH

Wiz is just trolling.

You are just being doff. Go read Encarta again.

Why do you feel the need to constantly lie about my position Peter? Pretty soon I am going to make a thread about all the lies I have caught you out in.

Everyone else.. just check Peter out... am I mad here or is Peter lying again? He does this all the time. Says you say XYZ then attacks that position when you didnt say it. How can you take him seriously?

Do you not think a medical plan to cover everyone is a good idea? I mean.. we have it even here in SA, so I find it confusing how some Americans can be so selfish as to not want everyone to be looked after.

As one of the wealthiest nations in the world.. you can afford it and become more human in the process.

So you are just another confused Republican, you made mention that you were Anglo-saxon?

First of all, I didn't indicate an opinion on the Health Care bill, I merely said I had no use for Obama.

"White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" or WASP is a common demographic designation here in the US. I apologize for the confusion. It has more to do with culture than race. If it helps, I have an Anglo-Saxon surname and I'm white and Protestant so I fit pretty neatly inside that category.

And, for the record...I voted for Bob Barr.

Thanks I know that, which is why I am asking you a question about your opinion on the Health Care Bill...

Your like or dislike of Obama should be irrelevant. The important issue here is the health, safety and security of the American nation. That should be the priority. A national healthcare net to look after everyone in your society is good for all Americans except those with Health Insurance shares.

I know you're not asking me, but here goes anyway:

BHO's Health Care Bill is well-intentioned.
It is also ill-conceived, morally questionable, unnecessarily invasive, unacceptably freedom-sapping, unaffordably expensive, and will almost certainly make health care for most Americans, especially the poorest, worse.
It is therefore to be execrated.

Oh, it also has billions and billions of dollars of loony pork barrel projects for cronies.

You say its well intentioned. Im not clear on something. Do you agree or disagree that all Americans should get access to medical facilities and resources no matter what their income level?

IE, Be a humane society and look after the weak as well as the strong. I just want to be clear on this point.

Yes, of course. Who would or even could wish otherwise?

How society best accomplishes that goal, or most closely approximates it, is of course moot. I am of the persuasion that Caesar makes a hash of these things. I am not persuaded that erecting massive state-owned bureaucracies is the optimal route.

Okay great. So we both think its the right thing to do and best for the American society.

Now I really havent been bothered to check how they are putting this together. I expect the Democrats to do what they can and the Republicans to pick at the holes Im too lazy to look for.

So in your opinion what is wrong with the plan? And what do you think the solution should be, or ideas you have on how to achieve our shared ideal.

*gasp*

The dreaded white, Southern Christian

You poor thing. The guilt you must carry with you :(

;):D

Aren't you always. Rather just stick to stereotypes than find out what's going on :erm:

Regrettably you seem to be inferring meanings that aren't in my reply.

I certainly agree that all should have access to healthcare, and that being a caring society is a good thing.

But that doesn't mean I think it should be done by the State. On the contrary, I think Americans should avoid State-driven healthcare like the plague. As should we.

So whilst I share the aim of getting healthcare for all, and fostering a good, caring society that defends and protects all, including and even especially the weak, I also think that socialised medicine is exactly the opposite of what America needs. Obama's Plan will be a disaster, and I am implacably opposed to it. Of course he means well, but then so did Hitler and Stalin and Mao. History is replete with well-intentioned but profoundly misconceived projects driven by people with grandiose misconceptions of themselves. Obama is in that mold. But as we know, good intentions just aren't good enough. I can't see him lasting more than a single term. Every day he's in office America takes a step closer to decay and tyranny.

(BTW, I don't think the modern Republicans can do any better.)
