Republicans at it again

Yes aids denialism is definitely preferable. So you'd rather end up in one of our state run hospitals than an American hospital after an accident :o. But yeah that's why everybody moves to Canada over the U.S :erm:

I dont know anyone whos moved to America.. people I know went to Canada, UK, Australia, NZ or somewhere else in Europe.

My sister worked for 2 years in the US, but said it sucked.

People are more important than profits? Good point. Unfortunately every breath you take is at the mercy of profits. Remember that, wizard.

"""“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.""""

People seem unable to understand the above. There is nothing else to be said.

They don't seem to be organised enough for that. Possibly because it might cost them money they'll never see again.

Or maybe because they're civil and don't feel the need to throw mass hissy fits verbally abusing and attacking anybody who disagrees with them.

No.

Is that because I read the MainStreamMedia(tm), or because they're too insignificant to make any impact?

Evidently you don't read any media. It's been all over the news.

Blue Dog Dems Rebel On Health Care Bill

Where are these thousands of loonie leftwingers and what mass murder do they support?

Oh wait ... you're talking about terrorists, aren't you!

You realise that's just a Reductio ad Hitlerum argument, right?

Like Alan said, wizard uses extreme examples of republicans and their "greed" or "stupidty" (all the while forgetting that Oprah watchers and HEAT readers elected Obama) to brush the entire party as redneck hicks. This is biased and petty. I'll receive more hatemail because of saying that.

I have simply stopped responding to him in the first person. And I know I'm not the only one. I really commend Arthur for the fact that he is decent enough to keep responding to wizard with unbiased posts that prove him wrong.

Wow, Obama really is living up to his promises! Looks like the Democrats aren't so wonderful after all. Doing the smart thing: Following Bush's policies.

But those two sources will likely be refuted by the witch hunters as some conspiracy site.

Thanks for more "input" from you Aeron. Enjoy your day. Im not sure anyone will click on your links but if someone does enjoy the conversation.

At least ure trying to be a bit more honest than your last post. Which means you might not be a closet case Republican after all.

Ah Wizard, you make me laugh. You really do. Because I am so nice, I will spoonfeed your liberal socialist mouth with some politico.com. I guess that's a conspiracy site too? Controlled by the Illuminati and lizzard Bilderbergs?

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/26158.html

""President Barack Obama and his top aides are signaling that they’re prepared to drop a government insurance option from a final health-reform deal if that’s what’s needed to strike a compromise on Obama’s top legislative priority. ""

So I give you links, and you refuse to open them because you fear it will destroy your argument or your zealous faith in Obama and his democrats? Now that's scientific method at its best! ;-)

You were doing so well on the honesty thing.. then you slipped again. Your statement implies that Ive called previous links in the past conspiracy sites. Thats dishonest and a lie and a misrepresentation of my position. Its a common logical fallacy called a "Strawman argument" used by those in desperation. PeterCH used it earlier and was caught out a liar. You might not have ment it that way but the way you structured your sentence implies such. I am not a conspiracy theorist.

Actually I stopped clicking on your links because you couldnt keep things straight. My world view isnt set in stone so Im happy when it gets improved or changed or corrected. I know better then. When I am proven wrong I admit it, and learn and grow from it. Im happy to have all my views challenged.. and I am happier when I had something wrong and I am corrected.

Ive being talking about healthcare for a while now, trying to keep Obama out of it cause as I stated in an earlier post, the important thing here is the health of the American people and not how cool you think you are to be part of the Obama hate club. Obama is not an issue for me like he is for you. I dont like it when Republicans hold up posters saying "Death to Obama, his wife and two brats".. and I will voice my opinion about that.

The bigger issue if you can see past the Obama demonization campaign led by Republicans is really the health of Americans. Something I am really suprised based on your posting that you have any interest in.

You wouldnt understand or know the scientific method if it crawled outta a test tube and smacked you with a radioactive isotope. Which I suppose is why you bring it up here.. you think its witty and smart when its really not.

To me people are more important than profits, and to me, a public medical system is essential to the social health of a society

I assume you are American and this is a Rep./Dem. squabble. If I can interject: my problem is that the rest of the world cannot afford the ‘American Dream’ and the Rep. platform depends on that.

Another issue which I find distasteful is that American culture worships money and profit at the expense of honour and integrity. Sure, enough money is essential, lots of money is really nice and true wealth is absolutely brilliant. But the American cost is too great.

Hah! They throw the biggest hissy fits around: "Obama wants to kill my grandma!"

Plus they band together into armed vigilante groups to defend themselves... and against whom, just by the way?

(Hey - you cherry pick, I'll cherry pick.)

Here's your argument: Democrats are just as bad as Republicans because, well, look at the Blue Dog Democrats.

You evidently failed to notice that the Blue Dog Democrats are rather more conservative than normal Democrats. In fact, they support Republican ideals quite often.

So ... Democrats are as bad as the Republicans because some loony Democrats pretty much *are* Republicans.

Great argument, Alan! You get better at this every day. :)

Oh noes, not naked protesters! There goes the fabric of our society (hur, hur hur).

;-)

What else have you got?

Hm.

I'll put that differently: do you actually have anything?

Im not American. 100% proudly Saffie. I support neither Dems or Republicans. I just call ducks ducks.

I agree with your points though.

Yes that's why millions of soldiers serve in the armed services for pathetically small pay. Not to mention the millions of family, friends and supporters. They do it all for the money

*sigh*

This is just getting pathetic. You obviously can't do simple maths. A hand full of idiots at townhall meetings > the thousands of protesters at hundreds of lounatic left rallies. Eish :o

Actually nowhere have I made that my argument. It does however prove my actual argument that's not only bible bashing Republicans opposing Obama's reforms. Not that you have supplied any proof that those idiots were in fact Christian or Republican in the first place....

Well at least you know what an a "Blue dog democrat" is. Every thread now it seems I teach you something new.

I was paying more attention to those celebrating the destruction of WTC, supporting Iraqi terrorists, calling for the destruction of Israel, setting effigies of Bush on fire or hanging with a noose around it's neg, labeling people Nazis etc but I guess you missed that

But yeah in your head a handful of idiots chant death to Obama and that's oh so much worse than thousands of these idiots.

Dude. Either supply detailed independant studies showing the exact numbers of both groups, or find another high horse to sit on.

No, I took it all in. Remembering as I did so that there are crazy people on both sides. Hell, there's probably even some crazy people in the middle too!

However, it is very, very important to remember that the existence of crazy people doesn't invalidate a good idea. Therein lies the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. One side spent trillions of dollars on war machinery and got their asses kicked (and they're still being kicked). The other side would prefer to channel that money towards making sure that sick people can get treatment.

Yes, money will be skimmed off the top at some point because that is what happens when people get involved. Yes, there will be problems and for some it may be a bumpy ride.

But at the end of the day, tax dollars are paying for healthcare rather cruise missiles, and that's a pretty decent start. And once you've started, you have the opportunity to alter and to improve and to (dare I say it!) evolve a better way of doing things.

No-one (except possibly Creationists) seriously expects a perfect system to be implemented right from the beginning.

In related news (socialised medicine), this lttle snippet frrom today's UK Press:
NHS dentists extract more teeth under new contract

NHS dentists are removing teeth rather than carry out complex treatments under the new contract, new figures have shown.
"From each according to his ability, to each according to NHS Directive 06/2844AB/X15 Part 76(b)(iv)."

In case you don't like the Telegraph reference, you can easily find the Guardian one. It's the same.
