Reputation system: Yes or no?

Should we keep the reputation system on MyBroadband?

It more or less is (though red doesn't make you a bad person ;)).

You start off grey, if a mod or mods gives you enough neg rep you turn red, if you get enough postitive rep you turn green and get eventually get extra green bars as your rep score climbs.

Makes no sense. How can you neg rep someone? The only option available is a positive rep. Look at this post. What do the colours mean.

Mods (and it appears, only mods) can give negative rep. Anyone can give positive rep.

The point? In it's current form, there is none - they took a simple system, castrated it and bureaucracy-ed it up to the point of uselessness.

Still doesn't explain the colours.

But I'm not sure why you are moaning about this. It's the easiest thing to ignore.

Read my post again ;) "if a mod or mods..."

Red = a neg from a mod
Green = a positive rep from someone with rep 'power'.
Grey = a positive rep, but counting for nothing, value 0.

Those people might be helpful but they haven't been getting positive rep (At least not from people with 'rep power'), also, if you're on a grey bar your rep is worth 0, so a rep from a person with a grey bar won't count towards your total. You need to be getting rep from people with green bars, as they are the ones who can improve the total (and turn a person green).

so in order for somebody like myself, to get a green bar, somebody has to say "thanks" that has REP power?
what is the point of that? I mean who decides if you have REP power or not?

its almost like saying, only people who are zumas family can vote ANC.....
 
:wtf: Wait, why are mods able to give neg rep? IMO it should be the same for everyone. Mods with grudges (yes, they exist) can make you look like an idiot for no reason.

I don't know the basic premise decided on, having said that, you go green pretty quickly, it only takes a 2 or 3 reps iirc.

That's the way RPM decided to do it, fortunately (iirc) neg rep only counts for -1, so once your rep has climbed a bit it makes no difference to you.

I mean sure if we had something under peoples posts that you could give rep maybe Id support it, but this makes no sense........

so its who's popular is the zoo.... me with my annoying questions must be none......

No, only mods can give negative rep, anyone can give positive rep.

You can give rep, but you need a few reps from people with green bars to turn you green and give you "rep power" for the future. I'll come back to the thread next time I'm giving rep out and look for you ;).

so its this little star, one clicks on to give rep, so I click it to give out rep?
sounds still suspicious, as I could easily log in as a clone account and give myself rep,

its not been thought out brilliantly TBH....

also no real explanation to some of us, how it works, and why it works....
