Reputation system: Yes or no?

Should we keep the reputation system on MyBroadband?

Neg repping is terrible. What's to stop it being abused against a poster who is simply expressing an unpopular opinion? And how does destroying someone to the point where they'll probably leave the forum make any sense as a punishment for one bad post?

I don't have any issues with the system thus far but this my first experience with a system like this so is early day's for me.

I have to agree with you that diversity is important to maintain an interesting forum. If a dominant group is able to stomp out particular people because their view is inconvenient for them it might as well be a private chat room. Group think will just take over and will become a boring culture of fit in or F-off.

That was not what I was meaning by that comment. TK has it's place and from what I can see has a wide range of diversity of people having fun and enjoying each other's company, I can't fault that.

I am referring to any specific topic where individual opinions could become less important than supporting a circle of friends or clones instead of giving their own feedback. It already happens but is usually very obvious.

Negative Rep could be abused in such case's to dominate and would remove the value of considering multiple view's on a topic.

I don't know all the details of why it didn't work out on Mybb previously but I suspect this would have been the reason, it takes all types of people to make the world go round.
