Does anyone have any experience with this as a fly solution? I'm looking at the slim solution for inside the house

I'm gatvol now. Every time you dare take try and cook something they come in from everywhere. Tried all kinds of traps, strips, lights, etc, keeping everything clean, no food out anywhere, the works. Just no luck

Thanks!

Blast 'em.

It's probably someone's rubbish bin that wasn't emptied because of the holidays. Maggots have hatched and are now causing havoc.

Get a few Red Top Flytraps.

Stinks to high heaven, so just don't hang it near the home, but it is hugely effective and lasts weeks if you keep putting some decomposing material into it.

I used to sell a version of that as a student. They not that great.
The lumnia's or the saltwar gun?

Keep a few of these bad boys around the house:
I'd actually love to have some yea. Where can one get? Just afraid my PoS dog will most likely kill the damn thing

Oh hell yes i had these in the past. Hung them outside, works kinda well in catching everything but just didn't seem like it was making any difference to the amount of that inside... and man oh man when the time came to actually dispose of it its always a close to kots situation

I use a red top fly trap as metioned above at the far end of the garden. Works pretty good.
My parents use bioway multi around their window sills and it also works really well.

Well yes, you will still have to do some swatting in an outbreak. You also need to try to find the source of the maggots, follow your nose, try to find that stinking dustbin or compost heap. It's also far worse when there is cow or horse manure around.

Let's put it this way, if you didn't have the Red Tops things would be a whole lot worse. Every female fly will lay eggs, between four to six batches, each batch consisting of 75 to 100 eggs, which hatch in 24-48 hours. That's a lot of flies, need a multi-pronged approach. The red tops will lure the female flies in, they lay eggs, can't get out. The maggots hatch, and feed on their Mom. They become flies in captivity, feeding on one another.

Disclaimer: I've never tried this myself, but got the idea from someone I know who swears by it (she may have been pulling my leg).

Very interesting! I recall a few times emptying the red tops that there was maggots galore, this explains it. Ill have to just try another one for kicks until i can get a more mechanical / less juicy solution

I wouldnt mind it, ive been wanting a little sucker for ages, and their staple food is flies so might be nice. I tried a venus fly trap once i got as a gift. It did tokkol and eventually died poor thing

Redtop FTW, I would definitely hang one or two of them. Use the disposable ones and put them into your wheelie bin in a plastic bag on garbage day.

It's too late this year but if you put up those Redtop Fly Traps at the beginning of summer you'll hardly have any flies.

You also get a yellow plastic device you hang into your bin- its keeps flies from reproducing there for 3 months and it cost about R70 or something- from Pick and Pay.

Jo, are you staying next to the sewer farm?

Have you seen a township on a Friday afternoon with the mounds of meat and sheep heads ready to be braaied? It reminds me of that KFC video where the guy was sharpening the knife at the back on the pavement.

I suppose people have different standards which is also what causes the flies.

We've tried everything, nothing works.

One of my neighbours put something like this on ALL her open windows and doors and I'm thinking we have to do this as well:

Currently we're using citronella candles. Flies still come but they don't seem to hang around for long like before

I use RedTop traps and the Eurolux zapper.

That Rentokil zapper looks like a refined design compared to the Eurolox zappers.

I do have to question why Rentokil gave their chatbot the name of the annoying sound that flies make:
