If I got to a website 10 times, 3 of those times will say 'Resolving Host'. The other 7 are blistering quick as per normal and speed tests are perfect in both latency and throughput.

What could cause the time out / resolve host issue?

I means your DNS server is rubbish, use your ISP's or googles.

then perform a ipconfig /flushdns in CMD

DNS

either use a decent dns server - opendns ones are typically good 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, or google's 8.8.8.8, or install a local caching server (unbound, dnsmasq etc)

Set on your router if possible.

I haven't change any from the default.

But I'll check the router. Thanks

Nope - Metrofibre / Initio360

Yeah, Afrihost's DNS is not good at all. They seem to be in denial about it though.

They are not even accessible. No live chat available, support lines go to voicemail, only option is email, and I have tried that, just to have my ticket removed after followup.

Time for a move.

Also on Metrofibre with CellC as ISP (previously Greencom). I've been having this issue for the last two days as well. I'm guessing they've cocked up their DNS somehow.

OK - so this is entered on the router ?

Sorry - need needed to do this ...

Oh and don't forget to restart any devices connected to your network, phones, tablets, PCs and Xbox/PS.

Seems like Metrofibre have an an issue for days.

I'll be honest - my Telkom VDSL never gave me issues like I have now

I get 'resolving host' as soon as someone starts torrenting on the LAN. Doesn't matter what torrent settings are used, it renders the connection useless. Drives me up the wall.

I'm talking ADSL though.
