Restaurant Recommendations

Was an awesome restuarant...

Loved going there as well

Moyo's at uShaka is pretty decent for a franchise setup.

Another of my favourites is Razzmatazz at Cabana Beach... Decent seafood and a stunning location.

Eat Greek/Platos on Broadway was nice
The restaurant at the top of John Ross House (The Revolving Restaurant) was unique but their food and service was sometimes lacking.
The Porra restaurant in Musgrave (cant remember the name) was also really good.
The Chinese restaurant at The Edward was awesome.
Luiggis across the road was great.

And just for Vernon Koekemoer: The Spur was always lekker my China bru...:p

Yeah that EatGreek was very good...

Roma Revolving is being auctioned off, so maybe soon there will be something decent up there.

That Porra restuarant was luverly... can't remember the name either, which says something about their marketing really.

Oddly enough Coimbra was a stunning restuarant in terms of food.. the one location was not so great tho.

Aubergene in Hillcrest is also brilliant, but can be a bit of a wait to get in (usually HAVE to book)...

Oh, I do get offensive and antagonistic on this board. Not in a '**** you' kind of way, more sarcastic mostly. Luckily most people are so obsessed with their own posts, they do not read half of what other people say!

You know what I like about your posts? They are are always straight forward. Some thing bugs you and you say so. You like some things, you say so.

And let me add that it would be fairly idiotic to have a thread about places if you can't mention the places. Some people.....

You want to try some really good food then try the Journey menu from the Saxon.

What I find odd is that some people like Moyo's, I have never had a great experience at any of the ones I have been too. I haven't tried the one in Durban yet but shudder at the thought of the beaches.

I have a feeling Moyo's in Durban would be horrible during "tourist season".. but off season... its a stunning place with the couches and stuff outside by the beach....

Thank you, you're a kind person.

Have you ever eaten at Plaka in Illovo? They used to be closer to the Melrose area, I think ... I have never, but would like to give it a try.

Another of my favourites is Saigon in Rivonia. You can even get a massage during dinner :D

No I hardly ever eat in the Illovo area as I am hardly ever there...

Teazers offer a similar service and their buffet is not bad - you should give it a try. Surely employees get a staff discount?

Don't know. I have yet to go to an establishment like that.

Yeah they used to be round the corner from their current spot... small place in Corlette Drive with an "outside" area. We used to go there every Friday for lunch - food was great, service excellent... then they moved and expanded
Ambience at Plaka's is still great but I've found their food is nowhere near as good and seems seriously over-priced to me

You really want to do Greek (food-wise that is :) ), give Byzance at Lonehill Shopping Centre a try.

Anyone from Durbs remember the Langoustine By The Sea? Next to the Hypermarket? That was a terrific restaurant - loved it...

Great place!!! Lekker little theater as well and also went to some memorable breakfast there with guest speakers.

It always seemed busy so not sure why it closed, is there still one inland , I think in the Pinetown area?

Home Flavours

Hi All,
If anyone is looking for authentic home cooked cuisine in jhb, i run my own home based business and do work for companies and private work as well.
All sorts of food, including SA indian food. So you don't have to go to dbn, or the spar or even to india to get good food. I have won a few cooking competitions and come highly recommended. Oneday, when i'm big :-)
i will own a restuarant like bhukara or somthing of that sort
Mail me at [email protected] and i will send your'll more details.
Have a great wknd.

Nah, prefer to cook Indian food myself. It is a fun experience !

Went to that new Blubird centre in Illovo on Saturday (is it named after you?)

Just got take away's from the Col'Cacchio but the vibe seemed nice, you could bar hop from the cocktail place to the restaurant then to the lounge for coffee after dinner.

Col Cacchios on a Saturday night is lekker!

Indian
In broadacres there is a small quaint little place called Banjaara's. Not flash but very cozy and their Lamb Gosh Badami is to die for!!!

Also another great curry restaurant in Bryanston in the Coachmans Crossing center just down from the City Lodge in peter place. Called 'Ghazal'.

Great curry, just do NOT order hot, these guys do not muck about.

Another superb curry house in Sandton Square, Bhukara, one of my favs for sure country wide.

Bhukaras good!:)
Is Bombay blues still open in Rosebank?

anyone remember the restaurant next to the scuba shop in knysna - aw...memories...

Trishna's

I've been here twice unfortunately, the food for me was way too hot but granted others would be fine with it and the owner was blatantly rude to her staff that I left and told her why, she just stormed off

Anyways, the best (to me) Indian restaurant is still Bombay Blues in Rosebank, a bit pricier but well worth it

Cant go wrong with Col 'Cacchios all branches for the best pizzas

Moyo just for the vibe and their Dawa's, I Love that drink, it loves me more
