Now granted I don't like to see KP succeed, but I could swear I've seen the reverse slog from other batsmen before his innings over the weekend?

Is my old memory mixing all sorts together to deny KP his place in history?

Yeah, we've seen the reverse sweep since the days of Jonty Rhodes - the difference is that KP <spit> switched grip which AFAICR I haven't seen before. Lot of risk for the batsman but otherwise a big fuss over not much.

Yeah, I was going to post the youtube videos here.
Quite a few KP vids there.
He switches his grip to a left handed batsmen, fcking good shots those.:)
I ain't seen that either.

Mike Gatting cost England a world cup once with the "normal" reverse sweep, so the English are too scared to play it now.

I have only seen highlights of it and always miss the actual reversing of the grip. But to my knowledge the reverse hook/pull has always required a reversing of the grip, otherwise the wrists cant go through the ball and there is no power. I still dont think it is anything new and I dont understand all the fuss over it.

The "reversing of the grip" is what the fuss is about.
Some "experts" are saying that if the batsmen can do that, then the bowler should be able to bowl left, or right handed without notifying the umpire.

Also that the "wide" rule should be changed, if the batsmen reverses his stance.

I agree with the wide rule but that was always at the umpire's discretion in the first place.

But I say let them bowl left and right handed regardless. I would love to see them try it and fail dismally.

Anyone got a link to a video clips of him smacking those two sixes using this reverse grip technique?

Its nothing special TBH. If you have seen a reverse slog like Gibbs and AB sometimes play then you have seen it before. I am not sure why, but for some or other reason this was blown way out of proportion by the media...

They never switched hands and hit it way over long on.

He only did it to Styris bowling at 90km/hr. I have faced 140km/hr before though. It aint fun - it fking scary actually. There is just not time to think AND play a shot. Hence why I assume all cricketers are thick...

I don't expect him to try it against Steyn.

I'd like him to Reverse slog a few people on this thread *cough*

KP FTW

Ntini maybe. He is only barely quicker than Styris these days. In all fairness to him though, he was bowling decent speeds during the IPL.

Brian Lara hit 28 off one Robin Peterson over, a world record that KP may try and beat.

Eng are playing NZ in the 2nd ODI today. :)
