Why punish the rich for being rich? Poor people should pay more taxes as they have shown they are unable to work with money and unable to use it productively for the benefit of the country.

Anyway, if we all payed for products based on a sliding scale there would be no use in earning more money if things just become relatively more expense. Therefore the doctor or engineer who spent hours awake studying will not be motivated to do that anymore - communism. In a country like ours where laziness is a common problem, communism/socialism can not work.
 
TV is a luxury, if you can't afford a TV license then don't pay it, if you can afford a TV you can afford a license though. I don't have a TV and I can afford it. TV is just boring and stupid.

I would happily pay a little more for basics like bread and milk if the poor were able to get it cheaper. But whats to stop the shop from saying only poor folk bought bread thus showing a reduced income ...

TV licences - are not a staple or a basic need.

I could pay an extra 10c on a bread - but am I then supposed to walk around with a card that says what I earn? Or do the poor get a badge of dishonour saying they cannot afford their own food?

And if I buy a bread for my domestic, then what?
What about when a poor person goes to the shops to buy breads for the sandwich shop he works for?
How long will it take me to get a card should I be retrenched or become too ill to work?
How often is the card renewed - what if an out-of-luck person wins the lottery? Is his card removed?

The system is way too flawed - none of the above "comments" even touches on the possibilities for fraud.

I can hear clamors for "smart cards linked to a central database", to which I simply reply "eNATIS".
 
A lot of posts on this forum talk about the rich as if you're talking about Tokyo & co. If this gets implemented, we'll be hit VERY hard. Compared to most South Africans most people who frequent these forums are considered rich. Most of us have purchased property, we own cars which a lot of us can afford to trade in every 2-3 years for newer models. If you read the Hardware section, you'll find guys there who are willing to spend R5k or more on a graphics card!!

Sorry to break it to you guys, but if you want to punish the rich, you're only punishing yourselves.
 
The SABC should waiver the Tv licence as they receive a large some of money from the advertisements they broadcast

If they are going to make me pay for TV according to the size of my income, I should be getting FREE TV soon (Maybe even get paid for having one) But then should they change their minds and charge me for TV according to the size of my d1ck --- Well then I will be in big k@k.:eek:

And why do the poor feel the rich owes them something?

The SABC can f*** off and die.

Why don't they change the f***ing name to SANBC? or some other crap.

And why don't they rename Eskom while they are at it.

It no longer resembles the Eskom of proud tradition.

And rename the f***ing country too...South African Social Banana Republic
 
TV Licence

Why not make it Trancperent so we see in figures how much Lic. are paid for all the official language sections. I don't care if maybe Engish will be the most paying clients & Afrikaans but how much money they get fron Venda and all the the other official languages in Licence fees? Should then not the local content and advertiser change they should know. It might even have an impact on the quality. Looking at some news in inanother Lang.
I sometimes wonder on the contents.
 
Yah the rich should pay , a lot of pple havent been paying up for a long time .
