Rio 2016 Olympics Sevens

Oh my... two tries thrown away. Good game Great Britain. Now we have to play the Japanese...

That was awful. We butchered at least three tries there. Wtf is De Jong doing here? Since when do you need a crash ball centre in Sevens? We missed Senatla badly. No pace in this team.

The standard of sevens have been very poor.

In my opinion de Jongh played well, enough, he assisted with many tries in the Olympic tournament. It is the sure tries that we have thrown away because the player did not think at the moment with the ball. We could have had a 10 to 12 points lead, but the player decided that a linesman needed the ball more than the 3 players (2 player overlap) on the right. The third possible try required a bit more work, but they travelled too much to the outside moving towards the try line.

We better hope to win the bronze…

I don't watch much Sevens admittedly but De Jong seems a nothing player in this format. You need fast players like Senatla, one creative Cecil Afrika type and some strong hard grafters like Brown. De Jong doesn't fit any of these descriptions.

I was under the impression Kwagga Smith is one of the better sevens players around? God knows what he was thinking ****ing up that try.

Gotta agree, was very disappointing to have him play like he did and mess things up.

We weren't anywhere near our best throughout the Olympics. GBR were average tonight but we were worse. I don't know if everyone ate too much McD before the matches, 'cause most of them looked like they lost a few yards of pace. Specman and Geduld looked especially slower.:(

Useless sidebar trivia:

Which country is the reigning Olympic gold medal holder in the 15-man version of the game?

The USA. Twice: 1920 Antwerp, and 1924 Paris. Rugby Union was dropped as an Olympic sport in 1925.
