Rio 2016 Olympics Sevens

Good win for the Blitzbokke. Should guarantee them of a medal at least, considering that Japan is in the semi-final mix.

Never won an Olympic medal before, of any type. Hopefully they will only get Silver :)

Yep, what made it better is that the commentator seemed to talk up the Australians, and that they had managed to beat us in the group stage. Sorry, what made it better is that they beat us in the group stage when it didn't matter, and lost to us in the knock out when it did matter.
 
The UK versus ARG game was a really bad game, not reflecting the strength of either team.
Just hope our team does not get a last minute dose of complacency .
 
Glad Kiwis are out. Oz has become our 7's bogey team, so great result.

And we have become Fiji's bogey team lately.....

But knowing the Blitzbokke or is it the BlitzProteas? ( no sign of a Bok anywhere on our rather nice strip)...we will loose against the Poms.

Japan has a knack of getting their opposition to not take them seriously. So yes they are definitely going to be a force to reckon with and are hyped up about their wins of late, making them very dangerous.

I certainly will be supporting them in their game against Fiji.

Ironically enough their women’s team entered the competition as a likely medallion candidate due to their strong lead up into the competition, but they were simply outpaced, the kick and chase game destroyed them.

The men’s team, there is only one Brave Blossom in the squad and he is a backup player on the roster. Most players have never played 15-men rugby, 2-3 players have signed with the Wild Knights to play in the 2016/17 Top League Season and rumour has it that Lomano Lemeki, and the two wingers, is close to put the ink down on paper with the Sunwolves. The team was heavily rounded, and the win over NZ is what pushed them up to this point, to take note that they took their third win in a row over France.

I have read that there is some unhappiness amongst the sevens rugby supporters that there are too many Tongans in their men’s team, though they were all schooled in the Japanese system and are indeed Japanese citizens.

All-in-all, well done to the Magnificent 7 Samurais.

The Polynesians are the best there is in rugby sevens, as much as I support Japanese rugby that is a very high expectation to beat Fiji. I do think that the Japanese has some intelligent play, like the New Zealanders, and do play against the Islanders on a regular basis, whether it is school, university or national rugby tours they will have some insight on how to go up against the challenge. It is only that the Polynesians play strength against strength, where they stump the opposition in a loose format.

My head say that it is a Fiji vs Blitzbokke finale. One thing though, the British is looking strong at Rio… I do not think that the Blitzbokke will be rotated again like they did in the pool games. Too many people complaining online that the sevens team lack Springboks, we already do have an specialised team.

I just typed in google. "stream the Olympics" and got quite few pages on sites offering streaming services ....

Maybe one of those will be of use?

I will be viewing it on my EasyView package on SABC, just need to accept the poor quality and the fiddling atound with advert breaks that cut into the game.
