I think I also suddenly developed a case of the limp when the police pulled me over for a broken tail light. Amazing how they magically appear.

Some might. But I don't recall recent political assassinations before Trump. I don't recall as-significant political protests before Trump. I don't recall the temperature & intolerance on both sides being raised to this degree, before Trump. To me, when you say "some might", I have to agree, but those would have been on the more-extremist side of the bell curve, not to the centre of it.

Just to be clear, when I say "before Trump" I am specifically referring to his second term. Even in his first term, things were far more "moderated" than it is now.

He was limping before the shooting which is when the footage in the street is from. He wasn't limping as he was running away after the shooting.
 

You can see the anger, you can feel the shift in logical thinking as people begin to strategize on how to deal with extremism. This is a common occurrence throughout history where people have had enough and things start to get ugly. That old diesel engine is warming up that thick old diesel fuel, very soon a very old war horse will start up and once it gets going all those people celebrating and plastering their own face on social media is going to feel the ground shaking. Then things is about to get a lot worse. America is about to get overhauled.

That's the point. Before Trump the extremist rhetoric went largely unchallenged. Trump heralded the start of common sense standing up and saying "no" to the extremism that had taken root.

I think you're right, but in a different sense maybe. I think this is simply the fall of an empire. America has run out of spending power. That's the actual thing that is driving the instability. The past 50 (?) years of US administrations (since abandoning the gold standard), all exported inflation to the rest of the world. They issued those sweet US bonds, and sold their future GDP. But the day of reckoning has slowly arrived in the past 10 years or so, and that wave is unstoppable. Americans are buckling under an unbearable cost-of-living crisis. Long story short, I think what we are seeing is all because of the American wallet hurting. $37 TRILLION of debt, and the USD as the world's reserve currency is starting to wobble. Early stages, but it is undeniable.

TL;DR: Fall of an empire playing out before your eyes. No republican or democrat can save it. The debt is too much.
