Damn. Wonder who will be the new local flight partner for Discovery Vitality
Flysafair is already in the process of acquiring additional aircraft. With Kulula/BA out of the game there's surely a gap for someone to fill. Whether one of the local guys ramp up or a foreign player steps in I think it'll prove too tempting to pass over.
+1 herebut you can’t disrespect your customers by being chronically late and unreliable for years and years while your biggest and hungriest competitor is laser-focussed on predictable on-time performance which makes for a seamless travel experience.
Santaco would like a chance to offer their servicesWhy not let Uber have a go? Take a few random drivers, put them in the cockpit, spray a scent of stale sweat and old Nando's in the plane to mimic a typical experience and off you go?
You forgot Velvet also kicked it a decade agofirst Nationwide, 1time and now Kulula,
wonder when Safair and Lift will say bye...
Around the time that Eric Venter left, things started feeling "off". Used them plenty of times between 2009-2016.Kulula and BA were great till around 2018 then a few issues started popping up and flight were often delayed. They also had the maintenance and safety issues and after Covid I think most airlines are hanging by a thread. Sad but as Richard Branson said If you want to be a Millionaire, start with a billion dollars and launch a new airline.
A man of class I see...
I think Michael O'Leary could have actually set them on the right path. He is an arse but he knows how to get things done and run a LCCSell it at a knock down price to Ryanair.![]()
Indeed the same guy. Not sure if things were already pretty bad when Glenn Orsmond took over but he has his name now connected to a failed Comair and a failed 1Time.But recently they did have something that 1Time had: the same CEO.
Jokes aside, your points make sense. In theory they had what they needed to continue to be a success, but you can’t disrespect your customers by being chronically late and unreliable for years and years while your biggest and hungriest competitor is laser-focussed on predictable on-time performance which makes for a seamless travel experience.
Not that I am the most prolific domestic traveller in SA but for many years now I have chosen to pay slightly more to avoid Kulula in particular (and BA generally) unless it was unavoidable. The last time I flew Kulula was in March out of necessity when they were grounded (which they handled appallingly) and I’m still waiting for that refund…
No thanks, don't want to write an Afrikaans exam before every flight
I'll just say I'm Not South African, tell them Im a Foreigner, wont have to write in a language I cant understand.Ek sal my plaaslike aardrykskunde kennis moet opskerp voor hulle die plaaslike mark betree. Beslis aandag skenk aan die nuanses tussen hoogste berge, pieke en plekke
I shall my farm-like earth-riches-art knowledge must sharpen before they the farm-like market join. Indeed attention gift to the nuances between highest mountains, peaks and placesEk sal my plaaslike aardrykskunde kennis moet opskerp voor hulle die plaaslike mark betree. The non-pc airline of past... i really enjoyed their ads and staff when i flew with them often back in the day.Oh well...
Kulula.Gone
now....
Lol...Over 1 000 workers’ jobs are now hanging in the balance. The National Union of Metal Workers (Numsa) is set to meet on Thursday to map a way forward.

Flights of Kulula.com and British Airways Domestic and Regional, brands of parent company Comair Limited, will not be taking off, after the airline failed to secure the required funds to recommence operations.www.news24.com
IF you see a refund, it will be cents on the Rand, and you'll be back of the line against the multitude of creditors before you. Don't hold your breath.
MPs need an airline they can fly free onPlease tell someone at SAA that it also not worth saving.
