Just heard on 702 news unit 6 is still not online

No Koosi, you must believe in the lies our government spreads in order to calm the voting public. Remember: it's not a crisis if you have a plan and showerhead, he has a plan.
Medupi Unit 6 can only do 800MW for short periods of time before tripping. Still needs lots of testing, troubleshooting and fine-tuning.
So yeah, Eskom is spinning it when they say it's already a reliable commercial unit.

My guess is Wednesday stage 1 from 5pm.Ye.. look i want this to be true (no one likes loadshedding). Except maybe for the people who paid alot of money to buy backup power solutions.
But.... i don't think Eskom can cope with the power requirements. Not even if all the power stations are up and all working 100%. There's so many people with cable theft and power being leeched from the grid (by people not paying for connection nor usage of electricity). Yet it's drawing the power from the grid.
Now it's winter time.. more people will be switching on those 1200watt and 2000watt 3bar and 4bar or even Ceramic Heaters and some even put on the Aircons in their home to create heat. This will put a major strain on the grid.

Depends i think things are pretty even presently due to economic downturn & increased household usage (winter). I reckon if maintenance (unplanned) happens then there is load shedding.. kinda puts us in an interesting situation.. increase economy = load shedding yet Eskom wants to up prices which cant happen if economy is suffering

I for one will make sure Eskom gets the least amount possible from me. Lights on solar, stove and geyser on gas. Next to go onto solar will be the electric fence and gate motors. Looking at switching the pool pump as well.
They could(most likely will) just claim it was unplanned as they no "planned" loadshedding.

They did "plan" load shedding, in order to conduct the "essential" maintenance. That, according to them, has now been completed, in time for winter. So no additional "planned" load shedding as far as we all know.
Any further load shedding, will be "unplanned," in that generators can (and will) still trip for whatever reason, coal will apparently "get wet" again, and there are rumours of coal shortages as well...
It's definitely not the end of load shedding, and I recon at least for the next 5+ years, it will be here to stay. Then I'm not even going to start on the cost of electricity...
