RIP Louis Luyt

Why do people think it is disrespectful talking bad about the dead??? I really don't get it. If the guy was a douche, he was a douche. Nobody says the same about Hitler et al.

oh, don't get me wrong, I couldn't give a crap about the dude...
I just don't want to see people stoop to his supposed level of ugliness! :)
 
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Shall not be missed for his arrogance. He only embraced democratic South Africa because he realised there was money that apartheid had hurt rugby's pockets. But he was against transformation of the sport. Not too many tears being shed for him today.

Well, your father was wrong. While it might have worked in a feudal society it doesn't work today. People only get the respect they deserve - alive or dead.

This weekend I was chatting to an old retired lady who worked for the municipality ages ago. She told a story of how Luyt called her one day and demanded that she tell him which land was rezoned for development before the public announcement. She informed him she was not allowed to and would loose her job potentially if she did tell him. His response was "Do you know who I am! I don't care about when its released officially, tell me now!"

Real nice guy, NOT! I liked the series of cartoons Madam and Eve did on him and his restaurant. Nepotism burger FTW.
