When us, as early adopters signed-up there was no 500meg package.

We signed for 1gig and the datacard was free.

Now the datacard on the 500meg is free....but you have to pay in R1140 to migrate to the smaller package.

Rip-off?

I wonder what BMW or Mercedes would say to this - they launch a new car which I choose to buy. Next month they launch another new model which would suit me better.

I ask to change to the new model and they say "No Way!".

My reply - what a rip-off!!! My fault or theirs?

My two cents worth for whast its worth. ;)

That's what u get for wanting to be one of the '1st' adopters. Deals always get sweeter as the service matures... :D

South Africans always get ripped off.

In india:

AIRTEL ( INDIA ) offers an EDGE/GPRS datacard with three options:
( Note datacard is free on all the contracts )
the data packages they offer with the card are:

100mb incl with free card for : R61 per month and 76c per mb exceeding 100mb.

1GB : R92 ( 9c per mb ! ) and 46c per additional mb

1.5GB : R122 ( 8c per mb!!!! ) and 46c per additional mb.

AND WE TOLD THAT R2 and 60c per mb is cheap.....and MTN says 49c is cheap.....
c'mon guys;wak up and smell the coffee....we always ripped off - others pay 8c per mb!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And in Japan they get 100Mbits/sec...

I signed up in December for the 1GB package and last month made inquiries about migrating. After I was told about the fee I asked for this to be waived since I get no 3G coverage and there was no 500MB package on offer at the time.

I was told by phone that the fee would be waived and I could downgrade for free.

Since then Vodacom have been very quiet and say they know nothing about this ...

My SP is no help - they have no power to migrate packages apparently.

From a happy customer to irate in three easy steps.

It is free with a 500mb package - i seen it yesterday in the Vodacom ( vodashop ) specials brochure which is available at all vodashops

Heh, i wanted to migrate UP towards that 500MB contract [so yes it definitely exists], nadah, they can't do it. So i think Vodacom and Migration is one of those things that do not go together.

i must say that with 155 and a bit of patience you will find very capable people. it just struck me that we know a lot about our specific situation (card, firmware, package etc) and the guy on the other end of the line has to know MORE than we do :)

i don't envy them. hats off to the network reps on this forum for their attention and patience

From which package did you want to upgrade? PM me and I'll try and help.
