So, after the pricing announcements and WebAfrica self pwnage, let's get an indication of how many are switching to AfriHost?

oooh look - *****@afrihost.co.za

:) Hopefully afrihost will provide an unbranded solution for resellers

Switched.

Testing afrihost with a prepaid account atm...will get a monthly thing next month if its cool

In the process of cancelling 3 accounts. Please add a poll.

Just waiting for them to have a reseller offering - then me and my customers move!

Yeah, let's get a poll.

I'm really hoping there is an article tomorrow on the fall out caused by the announcement (as suggested in the original thread)

dont know if this counts but I was on axxess and moved to Afrihost and waiting for WA to drop prices so I would say i was a potential customer for them. Now seeing the insignificant price drop i'm happy with afrihost. so they lost one potential account from me.

Been with WA for 2 years.. extremely disappointed with them now...they could have become more competitive..pity!!. Also have now cancelled and switched to Afrihost

cancelled 4 accounts earlier on. just got the WA email with a "your account cancellation is done" - what ever happened to retaining customers? recession? what recession!

Did you want to cancel or see WA beg you to stay. It sounds like they've demonstrated efficiency ;-)

Its ok - you still get to tell your friends that you broke up with them first. ;)

As mentioned - they seem to be efficient.

I'll continue to use both for the time being.

Well as someone mentioned, i wasn't with WA, but i was holding out for a good solid per-GIG [without speed throttling] offering cheaper than Afrihost. So when i saw the announcement, i jumped on Afrihost.

It would be interesting to see how many people signed up with Afrihost in the last few days. I can only hope they have the capacity, while it's all nice to support Afrihost, it doesn't help the entire country "supports" them and then we sit with a 100:1 contention ratio.

This is exactly what happened to Screamer, they launched their product and their network got slammed by the amount of users they signed up...end result? The network becomes congested and unstable and they need to constantly "upgrade" to keep up.

AFAIK, Afrihost are reselling bulk discounted IS bandwidth. I'm pretty sure IS is big enough to take the strain.
