Roaccutane/Oratane

Am I the only person who drank alcohol while on it :erm: stupid decision but as a teenager you don't really care about what the consequences could be

nope. most of them turned out fine

Not sure what a long time is but it builds up in your body, so if it has been more than 6 months good stuff but less than 6 months and you might find it hitting her hard, you should get her checked for allergies, mostly wheat gluten and dairy. I didn't know it but dairy was the main cause of my acne whether it was the cause of such bad acne initially i am not sure.

i'm not sure what the dosage was now that i think of it but i don't think it was a high dosage.

both my daughters have many allergies i have given up with both of them to be honest. i have 2 daughters with extreme problems, asthma, hay fever, sinus, blah blah blah. our medical bill each month is in the thousands. last year our medical bill was over R48 000. i know because i had to sit and add this lot up for tax purposes.

Best thing you can do for asthma and hay fever is a 3 months course of singulair and adco cetirezine...i did this for 3 months as per my doctors recommendation after he got tired of always putting me one nebulizers and oxygen to keep me alive when the season changed.I however took both every second night and its been two years now that I'm completely of it with thankfully not a single attack and nothing but peaceful nights sleep breathing easy.

Battling to breathe is terrible.I used to get it so bad i used to sit up at night battling to breathe for hours unable to talk even.Surprisingly mine started when I was 20 years old and just after I self installed my wooden flooring,I really believe the dust is what triggered it for me maybe lodged in my lungs or something.

Speak to your doctor about a course of singulair and adco certirezine....it changed my life.

Preaching to the choir - My eldest (6) has a extreme egg allergy. Her younger brother was fine, we had him tested at age 1. Then around 18 months - he started getting bad sinus infections that turned into bronchitis, etc. Spent many a night walking him to sleep in the childrens ward. He'd get a large dose of antibiotics, get better, a few weeks later we'd be back again. The third time we took him to the pediatrician that treated his sister - her focus is diagnostics and allercology. Turns out he was milk sensitive and had no immunity to certain pneumococcal infections. That did not even get better after a booster vaccination of Previnar.

We removed milk from his diet, no reaction to soya (luckily) and he was on a 3 month low dose of Zythromax antibiotics to boost his immune system. Took him out of preschool to minimize exposure. Expensive. The smallest prescription of Zythromax you can get is 15 ml, and he was supposed to get 1.5 ml - three times a week. And the suspension could only be stored for a week. R150 a week, and then you throw away 11.5 ml. And of course Discovery didn't cover it.

So far so good. 2 months later and no problems. Other than him breaking his collar bone falling off a slide at school. You have to laugh :)

Oh and - 6 months low dose of Roacutaine. Dry lips, nosebleeds and once got the medical grade sunblock my Dermatologist prescribed in my eyes. Ouch! Worst afternoon ever.
No mood swings - I was always a little ****, and no other side-effects.

I love chocolates and i used to binge on it 4-5 a days and it resulted into zits on my face. My doctor told me sweetener cause maximum acne problem. Since then i have controlled my sweet tooth.

You know i have suffered with acne since i was 15 and i am 32. I could understand the teenage acne but when i was in my late 20's i was getting annoyed about the acne around my chin, tried everything. Avoiding food, allergy tests but i never factored in stress. From 18-19 i have worked in an environment where everything has to be done fast and stress was extremely high.

I have moved out of that stressful situation and into a relaxed environment and you know what? Not a single pimple on my face in months. I eat sweets, drink coffee, eat pizza and basically chow what i like and no pimples :D. Shaving is not a scary thing anymore. Stress all along and i spent years cutting out food, crazy that all those years it was the stress :D. I can say though stay away from carbonated drinks. That is something i have entirely cut out, might have also been the cause.
