Back in CPT!
I've been on holiday for about a month and only got back home about 4 days ago. Problem is i killed 2 hugh cockroaches since i've been back. I never had this problem before (only staying in the house about 6 months so far). The roaches are about 5cm in length.

Could this roaches be wondering inside after the rains or do i have a more serious problem on hand?

And does one get something that you plug into a wall socket that removes or kills the buggers?

Any advice would be great.

That size with no other little roachlettes running around, I doubt you have a problem. If you are still worried though you can go down to the local supermarket and buy fumigation tabs. Burn in your place once or twice and it should sort out any problems.
Just remember to remove any pets or open food when you fumigate. Takes 4 - 6 hours till safe as far as I can remember and leaves a bit of a smell which isn't unbearable and disapears with a day of airing

Get Rentokill out - worth every cent.

We had problems with the small ones, they just keep on coming, no matter what we do.

Until we got Rentokil out - they will come out twice, once for the initial application of the roach poison, and the second time for a second application of the poison and general check-up.

So far we haven't got any creepy-crawlies yet. And that was more than a year or so ago.

@ Hoof - we also tried the fumigation thing, and it did not work.

We started to get the same size roaches. Killed one last week, and one again last night. (Blue Death is awesome :D). I think they come from outside as our place is fairly clean.

A bug-bomb/fogger also works. Don't be a retard like me and put one alone inside the ceiling - all kinds of ugly insects and spiders came running down through whatever opening they could find! Rather put a couple inside the house first AND THEN whilst they are spraying/burning, start the one inside the ceiling.

@ Ook

Interesting. Must've been a pretty hectic infestation? Did you do follow-up fumigations? Heard those little b@stards can pump out eggs as they die which then hatch once the fumigation is over

Pills've worked in a couple of our apartments where the roaches weren't too bad.

Rentokill or Flik are going to charge around 600 bucks as far as I know, hence my suggestion of a DIY job to start off with.

bug bombing for me did squat, the roach traps worked like a dream though,
if the problem gets bad, get out exterminators...

Rentokil was last at our place over a year ago, and the kitchen's still roach-free.

Try a DIY first, and if that doesn't help, get the big boys out :D

me have a different problem altogether the moffo ants, the buggers are millions, they've pratically taken over the entire yard.

When thy hit the two buildings on the property they hit them hard, then you just see lines of the buggers all over the houses. When you spray they just go around that area in the future, need to kill off the nests if I could find them.

It's so frustrating, it's like a losing battle trying to get rid of these buggers.

Have you tried those ant traps where they take the poison down into their nests?

I don't have a bug problem, but I do have a lot of spiders (which don't get killed but gently relocated). So my presumption is: spiders = !bugs

In the past week I've removed a wolf spider and 2 rain spiders from the house and in our lapa we have 2 rain spiders with egg sacs.

VIVA SPIDERS VIVA!!! :D
